I can only imagine I might be atleast half way home from work before it reaches 130 and stops snapping the 2-3 shift. I live near Chicago so when my car sits outside at work for 8 hours when it's 10 degrees outside this might not be a very fun driving experience.

So are the shifts even more rough the colder it is outside? Or is it the same, but just happens longer because it takes the tranny longer to warm up?

It is a tad more rough...but definitely lasts several more miles during winter.

Saw the posts above on the valve body replacement...doesn't that type of repair involve a different type of relearn afterwards? (Different than clearing the adaptives). I maybe wrong but thought I saw something once about a different type of 'clearing the memory' after a repair. Anyway was thinking that may help us??

The problem is that I had the revised valve body installed, then a relearn. That was in October. Was working fine until several weeks ago. The harsh 2-3 is back. Of course, it isn't as bad, as the temperature of the tranny at cold start up is obviously warmer at this time of the year.

Ok because the winters in Chicago are just tad cooler than they are in NC hahaha. So winters here will really put that 2-3 shift to the test. I can see me leaving work one night when its -10 and the thing gives me whip lash lol.

Wow that is roughly 8 months later and it reappeared. Very discouraging to read

Hahah, Sorry but that made me laugh about the whiplash.
But in all seriousness, yes it is more noticeable and you can really feel it. Hope we can find a fix before your colder temps come.

I totally don't want to leave it there one night, then drive back there the next morn for a test drive...but that will be my only option since it is immaculate when it warms up.

Just to give an update...FCA wants the dealer to drop the pan and inspect the fluid and replace the fluid.

I guess I will schedule something next week. I am sure it will shift fine after the service...its down the road that concerns me.

JTS, are you taking it in soon?

Yeah I plan to. I called the dealership yesterday to schedule something and he said they didn't have the parts in stock for the caliper recall my 2015 has pending. So he ordered those and once those parts come in I will be scheduling an appointment that will be addressing the caliper recall, shifter recall, my harsh 2-3 shift, and a couple other minor things. Thankfully my dealer said they can set me up with a loaner which is great and I really wasnt expecting.

Please update us with the results. It will be interesting if they have any new solutions. There are rumors that the 2017 comes with some sort of a preheater. The fact that the harsh shifts only occur when tranny is cold, seems to indicate they are aware of the problem.

Yes I will definitely report back.

What I find even more odd is how it literally just starts randomly out of the blue. One day it shifts perfectly, the next day leaving its messed up indefinitely. It's like what could have possibly changed to cause that issue to start? So weird.

The 16's already have the trans preheater.

As for the adaptive relearn... this can take a few hundred miles of driving for the harsh up or down shift to completely disappear. I had the harsh 1-2 and 3-2 shifts on my 14. The relearn immediately took care of the 3-2 shift but it took 350-400 miles of driving before the 1-2 shift disappeared. Give it some time before you push for a new valve body or trans replacement.

I had the new valve body and relearn in October. Ran nice and smooth until several weeks ago. Now the harsh 2-3 is back when cold.

I had the same issue, got a new transmission about 1000 miles ago, now the issue is starting again. It's subtle, but that's how it all began on the first transmission. This blows.
