Re: Attention WK2 3.6L owners - New TSB for Shudder, harsh shifts, performance and mo

I had posted a thread that I had the TSB applied a couple of weeks ago. My premature thoughts of improved driving conditions are blammed on wishful thinking and driving in SPORT mode (which I believe is how the vehicle should operate normally with the exception to the late shift into overdrive)
TSB 18-012-11 Rev.A 2011 builds

However I continue to have the premature upshifts into third. This happens mostly under light acceleration and during left hand and right hand turns. When I'm in traffic it is extremely annoying and don't even get me started on when I have passengers. It feels like I have a 4banger under the hood and the transmission is working itself to death.

I visited a different dealer from the one that said they completed the update and they looked into their system and said that they do not see that the update was done and furthermore that my vehicle VIN didn't show that the update applied. Even after much pleading they refused to do the update unless they did a test drive. I didn't have the time or patience to drive them around with soft/hard throttle presses sucking my gas to get the problem to 'duplicate.' I told them I'd return. I've tried calling Jeep to get them to confirm if the update applies to my VIN and they said they had to start a case for me and have someone get back with me.

Today at lunch I visited with the original dealership that told me they did the update to tell them my car still had the issue and they said they'd look at it again but they too want a test drive so I'm scheduled to go back in the morning.

So I'm doing what I said I would never do and that is reach out to (extremely busy I'm sure) Milous and ask if he can verify 1. If the full update 18-012-11A applied to my car... 2. Date of my build and if the update applies to my VIN.

Re: Attention WK2 3.6L owners - New TSB for Shudder, harsh shifts, performance and mo

::Update::
Just did a test drive with one of the dealership head techs. Thankfully I was able to 'duplicate' the issue several times with him and he agreed it was not the most optimal shift points for the vehicle. He had me pull the car into the shop bay and immidiately hooked up the machine. He saw that indeed (or claimed as much) that the vehicle had been flashed already but he would re-flash it again to make sure the TCM and DPM or whatever was applied. It took all of 10 minutes. I only work 4 miles from the dealership so my drive to work seemed fine and it seemed to shift fine but that isn't exaclty enough time to make judgement. Interestingly after I got to work I receieved a call from Chrysler. I spoke with my 'case manager' who told me that indeed that update 18-012-11a does apply to my vehicle...(why the other dealership denied that I don't know) and for me to have the update done. I told her that I just had it done this morning. She was eager to end the call. I told her that this was supposedly my second time to have this update and that I would be calling them back if I do not notice any change so my case could be updated.

Re: Attention WK2 3.6L owners - New TSB for Shudder, harsh shifts, performance and mo

I took my jeep in last saturday (built sept 2010). They told me all I needed was the ESC update. I have to bring them the TSB 18-012-11a print out. I dont understand why the service departments are not up to date. Unless they just dont care to do it.

Re: Attention WK2 3.6L owners - New TSB for Shudder, harsh shifts, performance and mo

My build date is April 22. Should I have my dealer verify that the last TSB and all other updates were applied to my vehicle? I would think they would have already been applied at the factory, but starting to lose faith in Chrysler. It seems with all of these posts Chrysler and their dealers aren't up to date themselves.

Thanks,

Re: Attention WK2 3.6L owners - New TSB for Shudder, harsh shifts, performance and mo

Update:: Had the update (supposedly) for the second time and still dealing with sluggish shifts and the dreaded 'deadspot' due to the early shift into third gear. Spent some time with the Dealer shop foreman discussing the issue. I even watched them do the second update to verify it was being done. I saw multiple flashing lights on the instrument panel that seemed to flash in patterns which to me indicated the car knew something was going on. He sent a message via his computer to Chrysler on their star system or whatever it is to get further assistance... He agrees it is a software issue and hopefully will get a response on any further steps or action. He thinks the further action is one of three things...
1)Chrysler has another update up their sleeve and hasn't said anything to avoid it leaking to sites like this which he said he hated
2) Chrylser will approve a new control module under the possibility that mine isn't accepting the update.
3) New tranny...yeah right. I don't believe it is the tranny...again just programming.

From what I have read on here, everyone who has had the update swears night and day changes that they notice immidiately. Sometimes I think it's just me wanting my v6 to feel like a v8 until I get that shift into 3rd too soon and I curse the suv until I can get it to downshift again. When that happens I tell myself that there is no way other people are experiencing this after they have had the flash because as picky as all of us are I'd be reading about it on here.

I wish I had bought the V8. However I'd possibly be in a different situation with the tourque convertor issue. Should have bought the Touareg...haha

Re: Attention WK2 3.6L owners - New TSB for Shudder, harsh shifts, performance and mo

So after two follow up calls to my dealership initiated by me .. I've grown tired of their lack of follow through and customer service. I went to the dealership (Wednesday)that I should have purchased from in the first place and drove them around for about 5 minutes. The service manager agreed that the way the vehicle was operating was not the optimal operating specs for what I wanted but reasoned with me that it was operating within the designs that Jeep had for that vehicle. He assured me and showed me on the computer that my vehicle had the latest updates and there was nothing else they could do. Frustrated and just tired of the whole situation I thanked him for his time and left. 5 minutes later I get a call from him saying... you left to soon because we just came across a new update that was just released Tuesday evening that is supposed to address drivability and transmission issues. He said while it was just released and that they hadn't yet downloaded the software into their system and to return Monday at which time they should have it loaded and can update my vehicle. We will see how that goes. If no improvement I am seriously considering talking to the sales office about options to get me into a V8... to which I'm sure I'll quickly see will be impossible

Took mine to dealership today with the printout. Explained what was happening and circled on the TSB what I experienced. After I got home looks like they only did the RRT 11-002. See what happens when I drive to work tomorrow.

Re: Attention WK2 3.6L owners - New TSB for Shudder, harsh shifts, performance and mo

Had mine done yesterday. I wasn't having shudder issues, just a general early torque converter lockup condition which was requiring alot of throttle to shift out of it. The tech said I had the latest update, but for some reason, two modules had not been initialized. He completed the flash and the early lockup/gear hunting is virtually gone.

First pic of an elusive TSB under-hood label! Most dealers do not place the label, but yours is exactly where the TSB says it should be placed.

Glad the mod worked well too.
