I believe the modules don't work right in all situations. Same as any other flash for like say a TCM. Only some users may report a condition. It is the firmware in the HVAC module not the UConnect system that is buggy in this case.

Oh, that makes sense. I know it stinks but at this point I'll gladly take my few electrical issues instead of mechanical issues like some guys are having

Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

I have a March build limited 4x4 with a 8.4an 13.05.3.

With outside temp at 66 my climate remote starts at 72 on low fan speed regardless of last setting. Climate goes to last temp setting once start button activated.

Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

A quick update to the issue as it appears in our Summit.

First, I updated the system to 13.15.4. (thanks Willx)

Today when we were out my wife made an interesting observation...

We parked the car and shut it off. AC was on auto, not synced. I started the car with the remote and unlocked it with the remote so my wife and son could get in the car while I was paying up at Steak & Shake. My wife said the AC was running with the fan at about medium and was cooling the car nicely but that it shut off the second I opened the driver door. Hitting the start button does not restart the AC. I have to either hit the Auto hard button or navigate to Climate and hit Auto there. Very interesting...

Anyway, looking forward to the fix from Jeep.

Martin

Yes, we have verified there is an HVAC issue exactly as you describe with Numerous Jeep GC. I don't think that the 13.19.0 fixes this though that is possible. I have been lead to believe this is an HVAC module update and that information will be updated in July as to the fix.

Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

Yep, same issue here. Remote start puts the air on low fan and opening the driver door shuts off the Auto and fan. Hitting start does nothing and I have to hit auto button to start air. Sometimes when on MAX it doesn't blow any air and I have to turn it to auto and then back to MAX to get air blowing full. Hope an HVAC mod update will fix this. Remote start is kinda pointless in the summer without this fix.

Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

Just remote started mine with the window down to feel the airflow. My climate control is always on auto at 64 and outside temp at start up was 69. Fan appears to remote start on a low setting. My uconnect screen does not go on until I open the door. Then the fan goes off completely and restarts on auto high speed. Various folks have mentioned updating their uconnect but I bought mine in April and have never been able to update. My system is 13.05.3.

There are some official improvements to the high ambient temperature operations of the system with the latest release. I have yet to be able to verify what these improvements are however if you wish to get the update you may do so below.

Update Thread: UConnect 13.19.0 - Unofficial

There is specific instructions included in the thread. I do not know if it corrects the issues that others have had with their remote start (your sounds like it works the way it was intended to by the programmers). There may be a change in the way the system works on startup still.

The current version you are running is one of the earliest. There are a great deal of improvements to UConnect via the latest software.

You can lock the car with the engine running, you just have to take the key with you..... I do it all the time

Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

Thought I'd add to your list - I have a 2014 Overland, V-8, 8.4AN, upgraded to 13.9.0 (thanks for the file - reloaded X2 to get VR working correctly), MFR date on door = 5-13. UConnect is registered.

I'm starting with the remote (no smart phone)
I'm using passive entry
HVAC is not set to SYNC
I've tried this many ways, has always exhibited the same results (pre & post 13.9.0)
Power off with engine is set to 5min (same results when it was 45sec)
Remote start will cool vehicle
I've tried the suggested test of opening passenger door first and the HVAC is on and cool air is flowing (don't know about warm air - not cold outside). Yesterday it was 103 F. outside and the fan speed was fairly high - nice cold air coming out. I opened the drivers door and the HVAC system shuts off (no light on auto - not even dim), I started the engine and it stayed off - had to press the auto button to get it back on - this is how it has always functioned.

I won't say it's useless as it does work, however it is not how I would have designed the system. I prefer the way my 2011 worked - came on where I left it last, and it stayed on when I entered the vehicle.

Lots of advice not to buy the 2011 GC as it was a "new" platform - great car, no real problems. Same advice with the 2014 GC, it's an even better car. I spent most of my working life as a technician (communications), it's a fact of life that if you build enough of anything you end up a few that have problems.

Thanks for all the help you provide.

It is supposed to work exactly how you think it should, recall last user setting or Fob stored preference.

There is a HVAC Module firmware update coming either July or August to correct the symptom you have.

The Summit tester I have alwasy returns to the last known setting on startup.
