Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

Will this software update fix other issues as well, like updating the outside temp more frequently so it can be maybe close to accurate?

All these still unresolved "issues" is making me think twice very hard about making my first new vehicle purchase a domestic brand. I was hoping that the tech fixes would be mostly resolved @6 months later since release. No know, other brands could have issues too. Oddly enough, both wife and I kind of like what we saw with the Chevy Traverse...sadly, the 2014 Highlander is not due until next year and my current lease ends in December. I know the sample size on the boards is small and biased, by I don't know if I'm willing to risk driving 25 miles away from home on an undulating up/downhill highway here in NJ. I am hoping come first week of September, I won't have to think twice about factory ordering a JGC. I just don't know anymore-half of me is convinced it is what I want, the other doesn't want to risk my soon to be growing to 4 family. Even the guys who had positive reviews for the truck are now changing their review to negative! :-(

There may be few folks who have had some issues, some of them significant, but I have driven my V6 2014 Overland nearly 10,000 miles with zero problems. That includes some nasty off-road travel and a trip up and down a treacherous, extremely steep, narrow, single-lane private road to a communications site that gains 1,300' elevation in less than a mile-and-a-half.

Yes, there is a minor glitch with the A/C running in remote start mode, and I found squeak when the steering column power adjust moves upward, but that's it! I'll have the squeak fixed when I get some time to go to the dealer, and it looks like the A/C issue will be fixed with an update in the next couple of weeks.

I haven't been back to the dealer since I took delivery in late April, except to buy a window "belt trim" (the chrome strip below the passenger window) that was damaged when some meth-head tried to break in. He hit the side window at least three times with a crowbar but still couldn't break it...Jeep uses laminated glass, even in the side windows, which spared my laptop, briefcase, tools and test equipment. A mobile window outfit replaced the window less than two hours after the incident for about $240.

In short, I love my Jeep and I'm sure I made the best choice of which SUV to buy. I'm up here on vacation in Lake Tahoe with my Jeep right now and seeing every other SUV in the world from Land Rovers, Escalades, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Lexus, Ford and GM and I wouldn't swap my Overland with any of them! Don't let the few issues here discourage you from buying a really excellent vehicle.

Sorry-i guess my fingers needed to vent. Well, I've been a forum member since Feb when I "decided" that once my lease ends in December, I want to BUY the truck I've wanted since high school in the late 90's. was set on getting a Laredo X then found out here MY14s were due out. I don't really want first year remodel/refresh for obvious reasons even went as far as telling my elder friend(who great Jeep GC experience is my basis of quality) that I am weary of the digital speedometer and touch screen interface. Well, the My14 JGC still tops my short list followed by Chevy Traverse-Equinox-14 Subaru Forester-13 Pathfinder. JGC just has what I "need" and WANT (I described it to my wife as the SUV version of my loaded '10 Maxima lol)

You should vent, that is what forums are for.

Then take in the info and make an informed decision. People who come here with an open mind and remember that there will be more negative than positive, and take that with a couple grains of salt, will be better informed.

Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

Ok, so five pages on this thread, a dozen other simlar threads... Promises from dealers and Jeep on a fix, but nothing.. I waited for the 2014 to some out, have it for two weeks, love every bit of it, but this a/c not coming on with remote start or iphone is not good at all. That was actually a very important feature for me living in Florida. What a shame. I guess American car makers still are playing catch up…. You would think they would “test” this feature before putting it in production.

The fact is it works on most Jeeps produced. There are a number affected yes but this is by no means everyone. That is not an excuse and I only know what I know and that was the fix was already supposed to be released.

I also want to note not everyone has the exact same issue so it is slightly more complicated that it appears on the surface because many that appear to work fine still have a slight problem.

Re: Auto A/C on Remote Start - Diag

When I use the remote start on my overland the A/C turns off. When I'm ready to drive it still stays off. I have to manually turn it on. I have an appointment with the service center on Monday. Any chances they know some Jeeps have this problem?
