I don't understand why either. My '05 Grand Cherokee Limited side mirrors had full coverage.

Re: Auto dimming mirror question

That "Chrome Ring" is part of the design. It hides the seal that bonds the front and back pieces of the mirror together. It also allows you to have a larger field of view in the mirror, instead of the older bezeled product. So it is partially aesthetic and functional.

Unhappy Re: Auto dimming mirror question

Guys I have a GC Overland 2014 3.0 CRD with auto-dimming function. What I am experiencing now is a failure of the drivers side mirror to dimm. Normally when a car approaches from behind, the interior mirror and the passenger-side mirror get dimmed but the drivers side wont. I have uconnect system where the auto-dimming function is enabled. This is not always happening but it is most of the time, what helps is when I move with the glass up and down and then it gets dimmed and stays until the car from behind me is away and then all three mirrors are back to normal but when comes another car i have to move with it again to get it working. Anyone experiencing this?

Re: Auto dimming mirror question

The auto-dimming mirror is probably my least favorite 'feature' on this vehicle.

I guess if you live in the city and/or drive on busy highways all the time, it works satisfactorily. But if you live out in the boonies, it's pretty lame. The mirrors take too long to darken, and don't get nearly dark enough - particularly on a long lonely stretch of road with a jacked up aftermarket-obsessed pickumup truck following about a quarter mile behind...

When I first bought this Jeep, the auto-dim function didn't work at all until I cycled through the auto-headlights setting a few times.
