Auto high bean detector after windshield replaced

I recently had my windshield replace and noe Auto high beam does not work as well as before. It doesn't sense oncoming traffic as quick as it used to, or at all sometimes.

Since I got windshield replaced do I need to get auto high beam sensor recalibrate or adjusted?

Did yhey use thd oem glass? There are some thresds on here about non oem replacement glass causing issues with the sensors/camera behind the glass

Yes they did. I insisted upon it.

My Smartbeam also stopped working properly after windshield replacement (OEM). I asked dealer to recalibrate camera after reading about this in other Chrysler vehicles. Dealer #1 did not know anything about recalibration process. Dealer #2 did, recalibrated, and Smartbeam now works normally again. I am submitting the charge for recalibration to insurance under the glass claim.

2014 Summit.

Dave, I recently had exact same experience as you. However dealer said the Smartbeam fix was covered by Chysler because of some known issue so I was not charged. This was only in last month or two.

Re: Auto high bean detector after windshield replaced

My smart beam came from the factory not working correctly. Before my new 2015 HA I had a 2014 Summit where it worked perfectly. I use it often as well as most of my work commutes are at night. Purchased my 2015 HA and it barely works right. Infact its so bad I have to manually turn my high beams off 95% of the time. Obviously it needs to be recalibrated, but I don't really want to bring my Jeep in to the dealership so for now I will hold off until one day where I have more stuff that needs to be done.

2014 Summit.

I have a chip I'm debating on getting the windshield replaced over. I have a 2014 summit which did not come with the acoustic windshield that they are putting on the 2015s. I was going to ask them if they would put the 2015 acoustic windshield in instead, oem of course. did you happen to ask for the 2015 windshield or stick with the 2014?

Re: Auto high bean detector after windshield replaced

Silvermax04,

Good question. I just asked for "Mopar", and I got a Mopar windshield that has different markings than my original. I'm positive it is not acoustic. I didn't realize at the time that there was an acoustic option, but knowing how much they try to avoid even using OEM makes me doubt that they would have agreed to use a non-OEM part that cost more. They don't seem to be "outside the box" kind of folks...even if it costs the same. If you're paying out of pocket, that's another story.

Yeah I'm not sure if they would go for it or not, I would offer to pay the difference between the standard 2014 OEM windshield and the 2015 OEM windshield. The OEM acoustic one does say acoustic on it down where the lettering is at. Ill let you know what I hear from them when I go.
