Auto tailgate won't lock!!

Okay, so... yesterday my wife parked the car in a low car park and did the inevitable and smashed the rear window. Luckily there was no panel damage. The window was replaced today, but now the auto tailgate won't lock. It goes down all the way, and attempts to lock and close (it pulsates in and out about 4 times) but doesn't lock. I can easily open it up again when the car is locked up, and is defineately not safe to drive.
It's late at night so the service centre call center can't offer much help at all, but she did say that it may do that if it suffers a bump. Obviously I didn't tell her about the smashed window, incase the repair wouldn't be covered under warranty.
Can anyone help me out with this? It's a long weekend coming up and I REALLY need the car.
I have read about resetting it, ie disconnect the neg terminal for 30 minutes, but that didn't work. I might try it for a little longer.

Re: Auto tailgate won't lock!!

Update.
Today my wife took it to the service centre and they said I was going to need a new locking mech... $1000AUD if it wasn't covered under warranty.
While I was at work I had a thought that maybe some of the broken glass got down to the lock, possibly jamming it up.
When I got home I took the rear interior panel off, and sure enough, glass everywhere. Pretty poor effort on the behalf of the repair company I think. And if I didn't need the car straight away I would have just had them fix it properly.
I removed the lock and could immediatly see glass chips inside. So, after a degrease, and a hit of compressed air I managed to free the lock.
Now I am pleased to say that it locks just like normal, and I saved $1000.
