Auto Wiper Issues

Has anyone else had issues with their Auto Wipers? Have a 2014 Overland and after two years of use my wipers are all of a sudden possessed -

Setting - not light but not heavy rain, consistent in amount of rain/pattern, consistent speed of jeep, consistent lighting while driving (overcast/raining and no sun shafts anywhere)

Wipers will speed up... slow down.... and stop for a while, so much so using them makes it dangerous driving.

I turned them on in an automatic car wash to calibrate - that is no help.

Took it to a dealer... Provided video proof.. and all they said was it was light hitting the optical sensor. Wipers working normally.

SO... this happens every time I drive it in the rain, no matter the amount, light outside, speed of the vehicle, etc.

Anyone else have this happen? And if so - what was the cause?

Thanks!

Re: Auto Wiper Issues

My "auto wipers" seem to have a mind of their own. They aren't nearly fast enough in heavy rain and seem go off in random intervals.

Did you recently change the sensitivity?

Well, a woman did invent windshield wipers...

Ok, all kidding aside, I don't pay attention to my wipers much. Perhaps because I only use them maybe a handful of times per year. We don't get much rain in the desert. Not sure if we are slotted for rain again this year but I will check the wipers if we do.

Re: Auto Wiper Issues

This morning it was raining on my commute. Even at the lowest level the wipers would accelerate and stay at full speed, even when I was stopped at a light. I found that turning them off and on cured the problem - for a while.

Was going to search here to see if this is normal, but I bumped into this post.

Nope. However it seems leaving it alone or changing it off and on over the last year makes no difference anyway.

I am a woman.... But that was funny, no offense taken. : )

In Iowa we get all sorts of rain, especially this year unfortunately.

Just hate to have this cool tech and it doesn't work.

Assuming the automation is smarter than you are.
I ended up turning the @!#$%!@# thing off and just use the variable pause and speed function manually.
