back window..(water drip)

Hey guys, question.. I notice when I wash my jeep.. and spray with regular hose.. up under the rear spoiler.. (very top of rear glass) i get a drip inside glass.. I was looking.. and it seems I can from inside, glass open..put my finger on top edge of inside glass.. and I can see my finger tip under the spoiler.. shouldn't this be a closer seal? Understand.. it does have a rubber seal.. lower, but still if water can drip in.. anyone notice this? was this covered already?

Re: back window..(water drip)

I see the same *intentional* gap in that location on my Jeep.

The rubber seal with the window glass should keep water out. I have not seen any signs of water dripping in this area. Does the rubber seal appear to have any kinks or pinches?

Re: back window..(water drip)

Had this problem as well.... There is a grommet above the weatherstrip which I've seen a few people have some issues with, myself included.

Open the rear gate.
With the gate fully open, look a few inches above the rubber gasket that appears to be "split."
You'll see some plastic wire guides (black in color) which runs across the rear window.
Take a small trim tool or flat blade screw driver and seperate the halves of the wire guides a few inches from where they meet in the middle. This will give you a lil extra workspace to examine the grommet.

In the middle of the guides, you'll see a few wires which pass through a rubber grommet in the glass.
Check to make sure the grommet is seated fully on the outer edges.

In my case, the grommet had a tear in it. Didn't feel like disconnecting the wiring so I applied some RTV to the outer edges and all is well even after 5 of direct abuse from a pressure washer.

Re: back window..(water drip)

From: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_tsb.htm#TIPS

Water leaking - running down the center inside of the backlight/glass
Remove spolier attachment screws on the inner side of the glass and the two at the hinges. Roll the spoiler toward the roof of the vehicle. Remove the outer harness retained at the lower half of the spoiler allowing spoiler to extend out of the way. Inspect the grommit for proper fit to the glass. Apply Kent High Tech Clear P10567 to the grommit face to glass sealing area and harness to grommit inner areas. Allow proper cure time as instructed.
