Bad experience with dealership over Uconnect Update

Today, I went to Deerly Brothers of Iowa City to do a recall service which they forgot to do on last service and check on the performance of the battery since it ran out of power after just parked in the garage for 3 days. I also mention to check on an update for the UConnect system. I knew there is an update for it, from this forum and having difficulty to access the UConnect website as lot of members experience. I am afraid of doing myself because I didn't know if the files I download in this forum will work on the UConnect in my car since there is different patch update from different unit of the 2014 WK2. When I picked up my car, I asked again if an update was done, but nobody was able to help me. Finally, I met someone that can help me with that. He found out there is an update but refused to help me install because he told me the dealership has no responsibility to install the update for customer. He told me I need to do it myself and throw me a customer service number and I left the dealership. I felt strange about it since I done an update at the dealership before and why didn't work this time. After three phone call with three different customer service department. I explained to the representative what happened and she was upset because she told me the dealership is responsible with the update as long as my car is under warranty. She called the dealership immediately and finally able to make an appointment for Monday to get this update. Sometimes I feel, especially in Iowa, there is a lot of bully and racist and doesn't want to help a person like a minority . I know those kind of people is everywhere but this make me stronger that I should leave the state of Iowa and go somewhere people are much civilized.

I have to agree with Chuck on that. Some dealers are notoriously incompetent and have no clue as to what customer service is about.

Johnny, find yourself another dealer if you can.

I heard a lot of people called the dealership as stealership. I did have good experience with this dealership, but it just went south for the last couple of visit. They even forgot to reset the oil change meter after an oil change. It's really hard to find a good dealership everywhere..... "-_-

Being in Iowa, choices are less in here. The closest one I can find is in West Branch or Cedar Rapids. Anyway, I am planning to move out of Iowa anyway.

Re: Bad experience with dealership over Uconnect Update

JohnnyIowa,

I buy all my Jeeps at Mancari Jeep in Oak Lawn Illinois but I live in Coralville so I take my vehicles to Deery Brothers. I just purchased a Summit EcoDiesel in June from Mancari and I have had to take it to Deery for two software updates and a air filter problem. I have only dealt with Devin Petersen in the service department and he has been incredible helpful with all my needs. He got me in right away and they did the updates in 15 minutes annd had me back on the road with no problems at all. There was a few younger guys at the service desk that didn't seem to have a clue about the service work I asked to have done. That in itself is the only reason I go immediately to Devin as he has taken the time to look up any and all TSB's that need to be done along with checking to see if there are any recalls. I have never purchased a vehicle from them as I have found their sales staff to be incompetent. If you go back make sure to speak with Devin. Hope all goes well for you.

Is Devin the older guy in the service? The guy I encouter with is Brad. I do agree the younger guys seems no clue of what they are doing and there has been some new faces too.

Yes, Devin is the older gentleman and Brad was the moron that I first encountered and Devin took over immediately when he realized that Brad was clueless with my request. Devin is extremely knowledgeable and he was telling me that he worked as a diesel mechanic and service manager for a New Holland tractor dealership for many years.

He was quite busy today and the other guy that handle my service was out or out for lunch. Brad is totally a moron. When the Chrysler representative talk to him, he said he thought he was just helping me go through the process, which is totally untrue. I asked many times if I can install the update in the dealership and he responded that we don't this here you have to install yourself. It has been tough year for me and I met too many moron in the area and I decided to just leave the area.

By the way, how do you like your Summit Diesel so far, I am debating if I should get one. One of worry if mechanic know how to handle a Diesel.

Re: Bad experience with dealership over Uconnect Update

Love the Summit!! I have gotten tremendous gas mileage with the diesel and I have not had any major issues with it at all, I only have 5,000 miles on it. A few software updates and bad air filter has been it. I have owned several diesel trucks int he past and I always do my own service work as I am very comfortable working on diesel engines. I just installed the Mopar skid plates on this past weekend and this weekend I will be installing some Husky mud flaps and a DEF injector protection plate. I have made several trips to Chicago and one trip to Indiana and I was averaging 29 mpg's. This Jeep was replacing a 2006 5.7L Hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited.

Husky made a mud flaps for Summit or you have to modified it? I only able to get 22.5 MPG on highway. How's the passing power between the Diesel and the V8. I test drove one the Diesel and i feel like driving a Petrol V6 but have more power on ramp and also the steeling is lighter.

Re: Bad experience with dealership over Uconnect Update

Husky just released the mud flaps on December 1, 2014. I ordered them from Autoanything.com on Monday and with their Cyber Monday sales I was able to get the front and rear pair for $57.00 with free shipping. The Husky product numbers are 58111 and 59111. The diesel so far has had tremendous throttle response and passing power especially going up hill. I just pulled a 4' x 10' utility trailer this past weekend and I could not even feel the trailer behind me on the interstate, even going up hill.
