Batterie trouble...

Hi gentlemen!

As I wrote in my presentation, I am French and proud owner of a 2011 Overland GC for 4 years. The best 4x4 I had to sand dunes, but with 18-inch wheels ...
My battery, changed a year ago discharges periodically! From one day to another.
In my Jeep dealership, no defects ...
Does this problem is known in the US? In France, there is very little 5.7L V8 ...
Thank you all!

Be indulgent with my (poor) english...

Tnans, Dan.

Re: Batterie trouble...

Discharges when? When sitting off or after/during driving?

If off, that would indicate something is not turning off and sapping power. If it wears down when driving, that would be your alternator.

I believe there should be a voltage indicator in one of the dash screens. Pay attention to it when out and about, especially while idling at a traffic stop. If it seems to be dropping below 12v, it's not charging while running (or not enough). A good battery should actually be riding over 12v when receiving a charge, either using an external charger or when running with the alternator.

If it seems fine when you park it, but struggles to start (or doesn't) the next day, that's where you'll need to take it in to see what's draining it. It's possible something is shorting and not properly shutting down.

Re: Batterie trouble...

we did have the problem here with fuel pump relay, it would not turn off pump and discharge the battery (I know, it happened to me many times). Would happen twice in 2 days and then not for a few months.

There is a fix (recall) for this, maybe look at that?
