Battery replacement question

I need to replace the battery in my 2011 overland. Will any manufacturer's 94R AGM battery work or is there something unique about the battery?

As long as you have group 94R AGM your fine. Just make sure to get the vent tube hooked up as the battery sits in the passenger compartment.

Re: Battery replacement question

I am assuming that I can reuse the vent tube with the new battery.

Re: Battery replacement question

I have not actually taken it off but I have been in there enough times and from what it looks it should just pull out and plug into the new battery.

So just curious you have a 2011 did that original battery just fail at 4-5 years or are you replacing just due to age or climate? On regular batteries I would just change them at 5 years rather than try to get another 1-2 years and risk being stuck somewhere. This is my first vehicle with AGM and I have read they can last a little bit longer than lead acid. so is it reasonable to expect 7 from an AGM or in real world are they about the same change interval as lead acid?

Yeh, I'm curious too. My '11 was manufactured 10/10 and I get battery nervous around 5 years. Been thinking I would try and push this one another year or so but with cold weather coming on I'm not feeling so adventurous.

I'll probably get an Interstate MT5-94R/H7 AGM from my buddy who is an Interstate dealer. He has a small country garage and usually sells me batteries for $5 over his cost. Whatever he charges me I am sure it will be cheaper than at the dealer.

Re: Battery replacement question

I just replaced mine in 2011 Overland due to age and Chicago winters with BOSCH battery. Little over 200$.

Re: Battery replacement question

Hopefully the AGM in the Jeep is better than the Odyssey AGMs I had in one of my boats. Frickin' things wouldn't hold a charge, went through four of them because they would basically be dead within 3-4 weeks. Alternator was fine.

Having mostly owned Nissan and Infiniti vehicles, I get nervous with batteries at the 2-3 year mark. Without fail, the batteries in those five vehicles would start sounding weak and then inevitably die around two years old.

Re: Battery replacement question

I have not had a battery failure, but the car is now almost five years old and the cold starts seem to be a little slower.
