Belt tension point not spinning

I got the Penstar with about 39K miles on it. One of the drive belt tension points (circled in read and sorry I forget the technical name for it) makes a click sound and stops spinning. The belts spins right over then it clicks and spins again and so on. It might be just a lose belt but the truck idles rough when in "drive". The belt itself looks in fairly good shape in my opinion.

Any experiences/suggestions regarding this issue?

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

Is the belt tensioner keeps the belt in tension? I know when mine was bad it would not turn the ac condenser.

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

Marked in red is the AC compressor.

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

Check the belt for tight tension. Could be belt tensioner or bad ac compressor.

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

You have circled the A-C compressor clutch. The inner section will only spin when the A-C is on.

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

Ohhhh.... Oh well I guess that doesn't explain the rough idle. I'll take it anyway for that then. Probably a bad spark cable or plug. Truck runs ok other than it shakes a bit at stop lights.

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

No worries on the AC compressor not spinning constantly. The only way it will stay fully engauged is if the AC is set to max cold.

Have you noticed the "ck engine" lamp illuminate any during rough idle conditions?

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

The engine is part of the 5 year/100k warranty so I would just take it to the dealership.

Re: Belt tension point not spinning

They said they found no issues. The shaking is very faint so I guess is normal. I will keep an eye on it and take it back.

Thanks guys
