Re: Biggest Disappointment

1. Crappy gas mileage: With V-6 and QTII getting only 21-22 mpg on freeway at 70 mph. I get that with my 99 JGC and the 4.7 V-8 with 265K miles on it.

2. As already mentioned, the steering wheel obscures the speedo unless lifted to full up position.

3. Arm rest (in door) ends at B-pillar and that's where my elbow is. On my 99 JGC the arm rest indentation continues on back thru the B-pillar---very nice design touch and much more comfortable.

4. Seats (leather) too hard; my wife has to put sheepskin cushions under to be comfortable. A classic case of the hangover from the MBZ days.

5. Power steering over-boosted and over-sensitive. Many auto mags have commented on this.

6. Five speed tranny. Would a reflash free up the sixth speed that's actually in there (kickdown ratio)??? Don't know if the upcoming 8 speed will increase mileage that much, but something's needed as 22 mpg won't cut it when gas is 5 bucks a gallon in a couple of years.

Re: Biggest Disappointment

It's taken me a while to respond to this thread. I wanted to be sure that anything I listed was actually a disappointment and not just a nitpick. Maybe it still is a nitpick but here you go:

Not loving the parking brake. Previous two vehicles had the electronic park brake with drive-away feature and man is it nice. Flick of the finger to set it, then just forget it.

The existing foot brake is perfectly functional but I always have to think about it when I apply it-- is my foot muddy, is it going to scrape against the side when I apply the brake, did I push it too hard, did I forget to disengage it, etc.

Otherwise, at 3K miles and 6 weeks of ownership, I am loving this baby.

Re: Biggest Disappointment

Squeaky seats, shutter issue, awful radio reception, poor speaker sound, sensitive door locking/unlocking.

Re: Biggest Disappointment

I see a lot of early trades based on these responses. I also can't help but comment on people being disappointed about things they should have know about before signing the papers and driving away. Things like hard seats, fuel economy that matches the EPA sticker but somehow is considered a disappointment or ergonomics like wheel placement and armrests or lack of optional features that were clearly spelled out on your window sticker, etc. etc. Did you not sit in the truck, take a test drive and review the standard equipment before you bought it?????

OTOH, there are a number of good things mentioned like power folding mirrors, front parking sensors, improved infotainment systems, etc. that Jeep needs to catalog and prioritize for future model years.

That's all well and good, mjw930, but please don't try to defend the lack of an icemaker (that was good stuff, Rosewood!)

Re: Biggest Disappointment

The biggest annoyance is the mygig interface. Compared to the system in my CTS or the ford Sync/nav system it is not very intuitive. And why couldn't the usb port be extended to the center console on the 730 like the 430 (i dont really want a usb cable or aux cable hanging off the front of my radio).

I accepted the fuel economy and decided to purchase anyway though its disappointing that with hemi the mpg number is similar to an escalade thats a 1k pounds heavier/faster/more tow capacity/larger, ect.

Re: Biggest Disappointment

The wooden knob you see in the manual is from a pre production model and it never made the final production so it is not available.

Re: Biggest Disappointment

The fact that when you press down on the accelerator, it dies for a couple of seconds then comes back alive, mainly when starting out in the morning but also at other times. If this doesn't have factory fix soon, it'll be the reason I trade it for another brand.....

Re: Biggest Disappointment

The size and weight of the WK2 compared to my '93 Grand Cherokee (ZJ).

I wanted an SUV that was no bigger than my old Jeep, but the only vehicle that excited me after 17 years was another Grand Cherokee! The WK2 is 21 inches longer, 17 inches wider, and over 1000 pounds heavier. I will get used to the size, and the Hemi V-8 is awesome.
