Re: Blower fan intermittent speeds?

So I took the truck in to the dealer on Saturday, and like I expected, the tech couldn't find anything "wrong". I sat in the truck with him and showed him what I was talking about, and he did acknowledge the issue and agree that if that's the way the truck is supposed to be, the logic is stupid.

He hooked whatever the Chrysler scan tool is to the truck and confirmed that all my modules/software were current. No TSBs or any other notices from Chrysler concerning the issue.

We went out and tested 2 other WK2s in the shop and they all did the same thing. We also checked a new, unsold Overland, and it did it too.

He and the service writer said to keep doing my research online, and maybe if enough people raise the issue, Chrysler will issue a fix sometime in the near future.

Re: Blower fan intermittent speeds?

Any updates to this? Anyone also have the problem or anyone lucky enough to get it fixed?

Re: Blower fan intermittent speeds?

I thought that I'd add to this old thread instead of starting a new one since it doesn't seem that Jeep has come up with a fix for this yet. My 5.7L Overland does it too. It's much worse with the A/C in the summer than it was with the heater in the winter. It was just occasional before, but now the blower fan is changing speed every time that I change the position of the gas pedal now, it started yesterday at the beginning of the long holiday weekend, so I can't even call my dealer until Tuesday. I'll try to find out if they think that they've got a fix for it yet.

This TSB might apply.

But whatís happening is I will have the blower fan on full blast and when I put the GC in drive or reverse the blower fan will slow down. When I come to a stop sign and make a 90 degree turn the fan will blow harder again when the gas is pressed during the turn but slow right back down as the wheel is straightened out. It usually happens within the first few minutes of driving.

The other day it was -21 out and I remote started the GC. It ran for about 10 minutes when I got in it but it was still cold. The blower fan had completely stopped working. I hit every button on the counsel put it into auto back to manual and still nothing. I drove my son to school then straight to the dealership. It ran for about an hour from the time I remote started till I got to the dealership and pulled it into their heated service area. It set in the heated area for a half an hour then it was pulled out to the lot and sat for several hours. When they started it to pull into a stall, the heater fan suddenly worked again. So they gave it back to me and emailed Chrysler about it to see if they had any information. Still havenít heard anything from Chrysler and the intermittent fan speed is still happening.

The mechanic tried to tell me it was the auto climate control but it is almost never in auto its always in manual. Anyone else experiencing anything like this?
Mine does the same thing.

Re: Blower fan intermittent speeds?

I finally got mine in to the dealer last week for this issue and they applied TSB 24-004-11, which they said addresses this exact issue. It still does it, but mine is a 5.7L and the TSB that they applied, while it's supposed to fix a number of things for all WK2's, is only supposed to fix the intermittent blower speed on the V-6 version. So I'm back to square one. I'll be calling the service department again to set up another appointment when I have some spare time.
