Re: Blue Smoke on Start Up

Mine just did it for the 3rd time.
It is a 5.7 and has over 11k miles on it.
It is not a "puff" and you don't have to stand behind the vehicle and look at the tail pipes.
It is a massive blue plume easily seen through the rear and side mirrors.

Guess I'm headed to the dealer.

Re: Blue Smoke on Start Up

I have a 2014 for 3 years 6000 miles and mine does the same thing and it is getting worst. The dealer cant fined the problem. Tried the lemon law and jeep wont fix it.Lawyer is telling me to take 2500 dollars that is what jeep is offering.Should I take or go to Court.Lawyer is saying I have a weak case since it wont smoke all the time.

Re: Blue Smoke on Start Up

Make sure you have the correct dipstick in it, the one it came with is wrong if 5.7L and likely the cause of your blue smoke.

Its the dipstick! On the hemi

didn't see your engine stated but assuming you have the v8 5.7 make sure you have dipstick part number 53034186AD for the 5.7 vs the defective one 53034186AC that it likely came with. If you have the AC and you fill your oil to full it will be over filled by one quart and you could get blue smoke like you are. The correct 53034186AD dipstick has fixed it for many people.

Take the $2500 for them putting you through all this time and mess with lawyers for 3 years and then go spend $18 and put the correct dipstick in problem likely fixed.

now if you already have dipstick 53034186AD and still get this smoke then disregard what I said lol. But my guess is its your dipstick, don't be shocked if the idiot dealer didn't even think to look for the correct revised dipstick

or for 6.4 L dipstick

Re: Blue Smoke on Start Up

Can't believe that Chrysler and some posters say that this is normal and just accept it. I have bought many new cars and trucks over the years and have never had smoke like what I see here. Maybe Chrysler can ask other engine manufacturers how they do it.
