Re: Brake Booster recall

This is my third Jeep recall with no parts in the foreseeable future.

Had a 94 ZJ with a brake rotor recall that took months to get replacements.

Had a 02 WJ with the air bag recall that took over a year to get parts and sold just before I got the call it was my turn to fix. This one they said the air bag light might come on and within a few seconds have the airbags deploy while driving.

Now the 11 WK2 with the Brake Booster. Dealer said at least 3 months for parts.

I know you cant just will millions of parts into existence, but what good is a recall if it takes months or years for a fix? I guess it is still better than a GM where it will get recalled everyday for the next year!

Red face Re: Brake Booster recall

Had Jeep in for 30,000 Km service, the service manager said there is a recall for the brake booster as well as it needs a front end alignment.
I said lets kill two birds with the one stone and do both on the same day!
The look on his face said it all then says bring it in next week I dont know when the parts for the booster will turn up.

One a week? I'm seventy-four, I may never see the recall repair for my Jeep. WTF is that all about?
with a 2014 - more than likely you wont need anything but the foam barrier. Even if you have gone through a winter. Call them back and ask about it.. see if they can get you in to inspect it and put the barrier on. Thats all mine needed I have had it for almost a year now (and Im in western NY.. the capital of winter road salt lol)

Re: Brake Booster recall

Well, I never got a recall letter from Jeep ('13 GC Trailhawk) but my daughter did for her '12 GC. We stopped in at the local dealer to get hers scheduled. Also had them run the VIN on mine, yep it's on the "list". They ordered the foam seals and we're waiting for them to come in.

I had mind done 2 weeks ago along with oil change, radio flash update and tire rotate. In and out in a couple of hours. They said they had a few of the recall parts in stock...

Re: Brake Booster recall

Had mine done yesterday- they replaced the booster and added the shield. I knew there was a problem in 2012 when my brake pedal would be rock hard in the morning. It now feels normal when I step on the brake after sitting overnight.

Re: Brake Booster recall

I finally called the Chrysler recall number listed on the recall letter we received. I complained about the slow process of recall fix and was told the parts were on back order and there was no remedy but to wait. I have no clue when my number will come up in the great roulette wheel of this process.

POOR customer service. Now with another recall posted, and a media package that is a complete bust, I'm re-thinking my Jeep purchase.

I called at the end of may. Took a month and a half

Re: Brake Booster recall

With the limited parts they should have recalled the older cars first. The likelihood that the booster on a '14 has corroded enough to leak is pretty slim compared to a my11.
