Brake controller

I have 2012 overland with keyless go. I installed a curt brake controller. The active light for controller stays on even after I turn engine off and lock the car.
Other then that it seems to function properly (didn't tow yet, trailer is elsewhere)

Any similar experience?
On my previouse car, it was going off after engine was shut down

Re: Brake controller

How did you do the wiring? OEM controller interface harness or cut and splice?

Re: Brake controller

Jeep original harness came with car, connected to controller per wire chart for both controller and harness

Re: Brake controller

Hmmm. Got the model # for the brake controller? I'll have to take a peek at their instructions and see what the deal is. Most controllers will generally stay "active" even with the key switched off, but most that I have has experience with won't have an indicator that stays active unless you tap the brake pedal.

Re: Brake controller

It's curt reflex
It always showed one dot constantly when engine was on
Now dot is on even after I turn off car

Re: Brake controller

After reading some of their instructions posted on their website, it almost sounds like your Battery positive is connected to the constant 12vdc side of something.

Did you have to do any wire splicing at all or was it completely plug and play?

How long will the single dot on the controller remain illuminated if you just let it sit with key off?

Re: Brake controller

No splicing connected the 4 wires from controller to harness and plugged in.

I have gotten to the same conclusion that the keyless go keeps the supply circuit live as long as fob is in the car. And then some.

I snuck on the car without the key fob, and the controller dot is off. As soon as the car senses key fob it turns controller on.

I was hoping to get feedback from other keyless go / controller users that they experience the same

Re: Brake controller

I am using a Drawtight Activator II model. Has the indicator light as do most controllers. Can't seem to produce the issue you are having with yours.
