Re: Bug spatters

I remember the bug problems in NC as I lived there a couple years and agree it is a problem.

Looks like there are some good suggestion here to help with that.

Not sure how or why but it is a tip that has been around for a while (like peanut butter to take wax off black trim) and it works with zero issues.

Re: Bug spatters

I like the dryer sheet idea too. This is what I was talking about from the begining;
I know there is many products out there for $. I was looking for something (short cut) we already have without the extra expense....

The damp dryer sheets left some residue... I'll have to try another technique.

Follow it up with a wet washcloth. I used a damp microfiber rag.

Re: Bug spatters

I notice the film too after it drys. I used a soft cloth and it buffs right off.

Off topic: another use for dryer sheets, if you put one in your pocket it will repel insects.

There is enough "body matter" left that any attempts at hand wiping anymore then 3 of these jokers off with anything smaller than a beach towel is honestly impossible. If you let the bug juice dry, it takes an act of congress to remove it, then still you are left with a ugly stain.

Each morning, I run through these swarms of some sort of flying beetles. As a morning ritual, I have a pressure washer (hot water) at my shop and without fail, each morning I have to blast the residue from the vehicle. After bug blasting is complete, I use quick detail spray to remove any remaining residue and go on with my day. A partial wash/partial quick detail is honestly quicker for me vs scrubbing each spatter from the front end by hand.
I have nothing of substance to offer, just wanted to express my amusement with your style...well written.

Re: Bug spatters

My daughter and I were driving back from Saint Louis last night. I said to her "Man, we are getting hammered by knuckle bugs tonight" after a few minutes she asked What is a knuckle bug? I said it is a bug that is so big it sounds like your knuckle hitting the glass

Re: Bug spatters

I've noticed the Jeep picks up a LOT of bugs. I've always just used clay to remove bugs, works well. The secret is to never let them dry on there...
