Luckily, we don't have to many bugs out here in this area on the west coast but I haven't noticed that the WK2 acquires them any faster than any other vehicle I've ever owned.

Re: Bug spatters

Its incredible. Just a short distance on the highway in any ruralish area and it looks like you've been on a 5 hour highway roadtrip.

A lot of surface area on the front of the WK2. Looks great, guess this is the price we pay

Re: Bug spatters

Yeah but I've had vehicles with a lot of surface area before and it hasn't been that bad, its the windshield too. Must have something to do with the aerodynamics...

my tacoma windshield gets real buggy fast...if you ever noticed they have more of a steep incline to them... havent noticed any differences between the jeep or the truck as far as bugs...either way it seems like i always have to scrub them off...have yet to try a dryer sheet but next time its bad i will be...

I would have to agree with JDSmitty. As a preventative measure, wax helps tremendously when removing them.

Re: Bug spatters

Funny I saw this post as I just got done scrubbing each friggin bug off the front of my Jeep right now. I have been using a paper towel and windex which does the job, but my fingers hurt front scrubbing by the time im done. HATE BUGS!

Re: Bug spatters

Dont use windex on the paint! It has wax removing alcohol in it.

This response ^^ plus this one >>(How do y'all get two different quotes in one post anyhow? ) "Love bugs got me yesterday,,, wet dryer sheets took them right off, and smell great! " make me think y'all are using these dryer sheets straight out of the box.

I have always used the sheets after they've been through the dryer so that the fabric softener has evaporated. I get great results and no residue that way. I just wet the sheets and the bug splatters with some Optima No-Rinse solution that I keep in a spray bottle for quick detailing and the insect remains come right off.

Re: Bug spatters

Having the DRL's on will also attract more bugs. Just the nature of those flying critters to travel towards the light, just like they do at night.

Yeah...never do that again. Paper towels are incredibly abrasive, and Windex probably won't damage the paint, but it will strip any wax or protectant right off of it. 100% you left scratches in the paint by doing that.

Use products designed for cars guys...I can show you a TON of pictures of peoples vehicles just ruined by people doing shit like this.

Re: Bug spatters

Any kind of bug splatter can be remove easily with wd-40 and then spray on some
Rain-X windsheild cleaner to the areas where they stick. Don't worry about any petroleum (Oil) based product on your paint. So long as it doesn't have any harsh detergents in it it won't harm the paint almost all detailers/polishes and waxes contain petroleum based distillates to enhance shine and act as lubricant for buffing. Just use a good micro-fiber rag to remove any residue. MacDaddy
