Buzzing from windshield area

Anyone have a similar issue where driving at higher speeds 65+, a buzzing noise develops from the front windshield/dash area? Colder weather and windy days seem to have a factor in this but not positive. I have a short video of the noise. Thanks in advance

Re: Buzzing from windshield area

2 questions for you , first being how sure are you of where the sound is coming from? second is what build year do you have?

I have an early 14 and was getting a buzzing / rattle that was hard to pin down exact where it was coming from. After a little searching I found a post about a bracket on the steering under the dash. I took this bracket off which was doing absolutely nothing, and problem solved. That sound was starting to drive me nuts and was also pissing me off not knowing what or where it was.it seemed the early build 14 had this issue and there was a TSB for it, but took me 5 minutes to do it myself.

I did see that post about that bracket. Not sure if thats the same thing but I'm going to check. It is a late 14' overland. Pretty confident it is coming from the windshield area on both driver/passenger sides. When I go faster it gets worse. It drives me crazy cause I do frequent interstate traveling and it comes and goes. It does seem like a windy day will make the problem worse.

Re: Buzzing from windshield area

The sounds from what I heard of it sounded fairly similar to my issue , but mine would come and go randomly , never staying constant to pin it down. Just take a look at that TSB , it shows the bracket , and if it is there under your column , take the bracket off.

Thanks so much for mentioning the TSB. I am almost positive this is my issue. It has been driving me nuts for five months. Finally nailed it down to the steering colmn area and when hitting the side of the steering wheel I can replicate the noise. After seeing this post I am hopeful they won`t have to tear my dash apart now!

I have the same issue mine is a 2011 Laredo. It seems to be the black plastic outside piece where the wipers are. It's driving me crazy too. Any ideas or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Buzzing from windshield area

I believe they call it a cowl panel. Mine gets warped depending on the time of year and was wondering if this is causing the buzzing but have been unable to confirm this.

It's definitely this. If the tabs that secure the rubber aren't pushed in or are just loose, this will not sit tight against the windshield and vibrate at a high enough speed. Happens all the time when I'm on the highway.
