Camshaft replacement?

Anyone see this TSB (http://wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0901216.pdf)? This seems pretty major, my 2016 has not shown any error codes but then again it only has 2300 miles.

Is it ok for me to continue driving the car?

thanks
Sean

Re: Camshaft replacement?

Remember, the RRT only pertains to vehicles built within a specific date range.

Re: Camshaft replacement?

My jeep was built on 3/14/16 so it falls in the range.

Another major repair and most likely backordered parts... just ducky.

Id go get it done sooner than later because you know how they are with parts the camshafts will probably soon be back ordered for a year. there is someone on here with 18k on their GC and had the famous 5.7 water pump failure in June and they are telling her it will be September before they have a water pump because of national back order. crazy unacceptable

For me it's incredible and unacceptable averaging one major repair a month so far.

My vehicle was built in the date range listed in that TSB. And because this is also a RRT I'd expect to see this show up on my VIN in owners connect... which it currently does not. I guess I'll have to have my dealer run this through their ricky ranger secret decoder tool to find out.

Kori... getting a service appt scheduled is a non-issue. Having the parts available for that appt is the issue. You have any juice to make that happen?

Well, if this TSB was just released yesterday that would explain why it doesn't show up against my VIN in owners connect.

Mine was built in February, I picked it up late March. I've had the S16 brake caliper recall, the S28 shifter recall and now it looks like the camshaft TSB/RRT... which to me is the same as a recall without the NHTSA being involved. LOL... so yeah, it's almost averaging one a month. I don't include three software flashes, having to replace the door armrest and rocker panel scuff plate or buffing out numerous paint scratches all due to poor delivery prep work in my complaint.

I love the cryptic problem description... "This bulletin involves replacing the left and right intake camshafts due to a missing feature on the nose of the camshaft." That's a fairly significant engine teardown.

lol "missing feature on the nose of the camshaft" oh that dam missing cam shaft feature on the nose.

I thought I had knocked out the multitude of new car gremlims but looks like bubbling dash and corroding hood are the next contenders. I keep thinking just this one more thing but its been a lot of stuff for 3 years. starting to question if this will be a 10 year car that I had intended. I'm a bit afraid to think what will happen when I actually get some real time and miles on this vehicle.
