can the windshield be taken off and reused

So is it easy to take it off without damage and reuse it again?

Re: can the windshield be taken off and reused

I recently had a windshield replaced in my '14 (for a small chip). They used a wire contraption to remove the old windshield. I took a look at it when it was out and it looked to be unharmed. Maybe the sealant would need to be cleaned off, but it looked like it could be reused if needed.

Just talked with a service manager at a different dealership and apparently the windshield is bonded and there is a strong chance they can't get it off intact. Plus there is a rubber strip along the windshield on top that their tech snagged while resealing it awhile back. That strip is no longer flush with the roof where it meets the rust and cannot be bought separately.

Re: can the windshield be taken off and reused

I hope so as well. I'm paying them a visit when they remove the windshield to see the extent of the rust damage, then another one when the repair said damage before they install the new windshield (which I'll be providing from a different dealership who sympathized with me enough to give me a considerable discount on the price) so I can verify that the work has been done correctly. I really have no more faith or trust in them or their work. They just give Jeep (Chrysler) a bad name.
On the up side, I'll be getting my Jeep back by next week-end!! After 20 long days!
