Canadian Service (Warranty) Plans

The Chrysler Canada Service Contracts are quite different from the US versions:

Here is a link to the brochure.
http://www.mopar.ca/en/service/max.pdf

I find it confusing. If I want to get a similar 7 year (160,000 km–100,000 miles) plan to the Maximum Care (US) it looks like I have to get the Extended “Gold” Component Coverage (Plan 410). It is a $0 deductable plan. I got one quote for $3,680 - pretty high compared to what US owners are getting.

Then there is this other brochure:
http://www.mopar.ca/en/service/2003SCBEnglish.pdf

Here I was looking at Plan 708 (offered at $0 or $100 deductible).
The brochure shows years 4-7 Powertrain Warranty - $100 Deductable, but my new Jeep warranty for the powertrain is 5 years $0 deductible. The more I read these brochures the more confused and PO’d I get.

I had a few dealers tell me that they have never heard of the plans in this brochure and when I emailed the link to them, many said that it wasn’t available through them or it was old (and they will notify Chrysler Canada). Another western Canada dealer said this is only offered in Ontario!!!

Anyone purchased a Canadian service warranty plan? What did you get and what did you pay.

Yea i bought one, We do get totally screwed up here.

I paid $2k for 5yr - 160,000 km bumper to bumper, i believe the deductible (after the factory warranty runs out) was $100 or something, I really can't remember...but whatever...100 bucks is nothing. The dealership wanted 2800 for it but i just ***** them down some. I only plan to keep this Jeep for 5 years max, so I dont really need the extra two years.

I posted once before about how my sales manager looked like a three card monty dealer with the fast moves and scribbles on warranty paper when I asked about the extended warranty options. The system was so full of caveats and excessive high cost that I bought NO extra warranty. If we had the equivalent of US Maximum Care at a similar price I would sign on in a minute.

Until they fix this mess, I will take my chances. YMMV.

I don't go for extended warranties, rust proofing, leather treatments etc. Even Consumer Reports agree.

The best and only extended warranty I went for years ago was with my Porshe 911 from Pfaff Porsche. Cost $1700 for 6 years with a full refund if nothing claimed. I got back my full amount at the end without question.
