Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

Everything seems to be inoperative for unlocking vehicle (has Keyless Enter-N-Go, of course:

-pulling handle on either door does not work

-pressing unlock on either key fob does not work

- using key from fob in driver's door lock does not work

Anyone seen this or know cause?

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

No idea, but sure is scary. Have you tried the Uconnect app to unlock the doors (and/or to contact Jeep/Chrysler?)

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

Thanks for suggestion on Uconnect. First it sent unlock but no unlock. Tried 2 more times and message is "unable to process your request. please try again later."

Called Chrysler, will be picked up tomorrow.

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

Yep, TODAY! Wife called me from mall freaking out that car wouldn't lock and while on the phone the panic shot off and wouldn't stop no matter what fob or door buttons were pressed, car wouldn't start, etc.... The EVIC displayed "Key Fob Not Detected". So she sat inside the car while I headed there (with my fob) and within a few minutes the panic stopped and when she pressed the lock button on door (fob was useless) the car locked, HOWEVER, it would not unlock. She was locked INSIDE the vehicle. She called me and was really freaking out now...

Soo, I get there and when I get in range my fob worked normally and her's also worked normally....harumph!

I, too, am headed to the dealer in the am as I suspect this is a continuation of a previous problem, supposedly fixed. That problem was one that had the fobs being rendered useless and the EVIC displaying "Service Keyless System". They worked enough tho to allow (while with you) starting with the dash button but you had to lock/unlock using the door buttons. That problem was traced to the connector for the RKE antenna being just barely pushed in and connected. It was a real pita for them to get at since it is underneath the dash but on top of the steering column.

Soo, I suspect that connector is the culprit for me again or something, who knows.

Moral to this long story, have them check this antenna connection....good luck, I'm with ya brotha!

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

BTW, if you are truly locked out did you try using the physical emergency key in your fob to at least unlock the vehicle? My wife was locked IN with no ability to even turn ACC on to get windows down so she was still stuck inside.

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

Tried hard key in fob-no help. Apparently this is NOT a mechanical release of the lock.

Drove Thurs (3 days ago) 80 miles.

Alarm went off Thurs PM - presumably, I thought, because I bumped the fob against my kitchen countertop, was in pocket. Disabled alarm with fob.

Changes in last 16 days, first attached Valentine 1 RD with SAVVY through OBD connector. About a week ago updated uconnect/radio with 12/18/20014 update-14.49.0 or something like that.

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

If locked IN the car, maybe press the Help button on rearview mirror for a remote unlock via live operator (or if really in a jam, the 911 button). Are the windows also inoperative when locked in?

That's what cell phones are for . All was INOP including windows. Start button would not work so could not get in ACC mode to power anything. It was really strange. My rig has 19k and except for the other recent RKE failure it is the only issue I've had with the fob and RKE.

What I meant to say is there is a mechanical component but I believe it starts with electromagnetic activation when you turn the key (switches polarity) so that is where the disruption is. Let us know what the dealer says, I will do same.

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

Update:

The hard key in the FOB does mechanically unlock the driver's door. I was afraid of breaking the key off in the lock. Rotate key counterclockwise, top of key toward front of vehicle. Open hood and jump start.

What caused the dead battery? My current guess follows. Installed SAVVY (added component for Valentine 1 radar detector) connected to OBD connector. Worked great for 2 weeks. Talked with Valentine and they have seen some problem the Dodges. SAVVY is suppose to go to low current drain after engine shuts off. Due to delays in later shut down in some of these vehicles, possible reactivation of signals to the OBD or ??, SAVVY continues to draw higher (normal driving) current when it should have switched to lower (off) level. Returned my SAVVY for credit. Valentine is pursuing a fix for this problem and suggested I call back monthly. I will do so and update if it is corrected.

Re: Cannot unlock 2015 Summit...

Seems odd. They design the manual unlock knob so that it cannot be raised when locked. There is a requirement that trunk actuators have a mechanical latch (571.401 Standard No. 401) but apparently none for SUVs
"
S2. Application. This standard applies to passenger cars that have a trunk compartment. This standard does not apply to passenger cars with a back door.
S3. Definitions.
Back door means a door or door system on the back end of a passenger car through which cargo can be loaded or unloaded. The term includes the hinged back door on a hatchback or a station wagon."

Further the only "emergency exit" instructions in the OM seems to require lowering of a window.

So if someone is locked into a GC with the windows up it sounds like they need to have a way to break a window (flipper is probably the easiest to replace) or to arrange other mechanical means (can the door lock posts be replaced with something longer ? Mine did not seem to unscrew easily, alternatively adding a plastic flap may reveal the flipper mechanism. If you have a flipper that opens that is...)
