Re: Can't download music to the HDD

I just tried this and it still shows "No Files on USB" ??
I have pictures (JPGs) and music copies from a CD (CDA files) and it doesn't recognize either ... the pictures and music are in folders... is that messing it up? I have tried 2 different flash drives -- no luck ... copying music from a CD works fine ... what am i doing wrong? are the file formats wrong??

Re: Can't download music to the HDD

Yes, the music needs to be encoded in mp3, wma, or similar format. Also, take all of the other files off the drive and format to fat32 before transferring the music to it. If you search the forum, there are several threads explaining this in detail.

Re: Can't download music to the HDD

It worked! I ripped the cda files to mp3 and they load from the USB to the HDD...
so now how do I get pictures to load???
JPG? JPEG??
Can they be in a folder or do they have to just be on the USB in the root directory??

In the 430N manual it seems to indicate that when you plug in a USB flash drive, a menu comes up asking MY MUSIC MY PICTURES or MANAGE HDD ... I don't get that .. the music just starts playing...

Thank you so much for your help
I passed the info on to a friend who has never been able to load music from a USB to the HDD in her Expedition .. which I suspect is the same problem.

I've only had my new Jeep for 2 weeks so I'm still trying to figure out how everything works.

Re: Can't download music to the HDD

I'm not sure you can load any picture files. I know you can't on my '14, so I'm guessing you won't be able to on yours either. Glad you got your music loaded!

The MY14 does not have the hard drive... Can't save music or pictures. The 13's do.

The MY14 does have an SD card slot though, so you can load music on that, and insert it.

I tried loading JPEG files on both an SD and USB stick. Neither would display on my 8.4AN screen.

You know what would be nice is if CDJ would just publish the exact file types they support! It doesn't support all music formats either as we have found out.
