catch can problems

i just got one from speedlogix, i emailed Shawn from speedlogix and he says hes never heard of any issues, yet it seems as if its a known issue. i cut the coil pack cover thinking it will solve the problem. i installed the z bracket, but now the catch can wont fit

i may just go buy a longer bolt, but this is really annoying

Re: catch can problems

Have never seen the 6.4 in person but that sure doesn't look correctly installed.

Re: catch can problems

only the z bracket is installed. the catch can is not attached because it doesnt fit

theres only really 1 bolt whole that the bracket can fit. i think they just didnt supply the right spacer and bolt

Never ever cut the coil pack cover or anything else for that matter.

Re: catch can problems

I don't think the z bracket will work in that location. About a year ago someone posted a how too thread, the issue with the 5.7 is the air box and engine cover are in the way.

You also can either mount it to the fender, or there is a relatively new WK2 bracket that attaches to the relay box.

Perhaps these threads will give you an idea.

This is the thread with the new bracket:

Got my Billet Technology Catch Can today

Here's one with a CAI:

Installed new Billet catch can for Hemi

Here's one for the Z bracket.

Re: catch can problems

Thanks for the info. I've seen most of those threads now that I'm looking for people with catch can issues. I'm thinking of just extended the bolt with another spacer or get a thread extension. Well see which one I actually fine that works well

Re: catch can problems

I am sorry to see you are having issues with your catch can. But it seems that no one else on the forum has a catch can from Speedlogix as no one is confirming or denying there is a problem.

Is there no further word from Speedlogix on this matter and have you provided him with your pictures? From the pictures, I would think he would at least confirm there is a problem and would offer a solution or at least indicate that the install is incorrect. If he is not aware of any issues, then how would he explain the problem you are facing. Either he did not provide you with the right bracklet or he is refusing to admit there is a problem and that is not a good sign.

they answered emails rather quickly. but they kept saying that no one else has complained about an issue like this. they even have a truck in their shop with a catch can and z bracket, with no issues.

they offered to hook me up, if i was closer of course, but i just want this thing installed, so im going to try and find the thread extension myself

Lmaooo I knew someone would have noticed that. What had happened was...... I only had a wire stripper next to me when I decided to cut it. The wire stripper has teeth to strip wire, hence the teeth marks. I plan on trimming it properly as soon as I get the can to fit properly. Damn, it does look like I chewed it, doesn't it?

Re: catch can problems

Also, they sent me a picture of Lisa's truck, but it must have been an early build. Scott can vouch for the fact that it's known the 2013s need a different bracket. It's now assumed that it's not only 2013s, but later 2012s also

Re: catch can problems

Prime example. I Googled a 2012 jeep Srt8 engine, and I got this. The engine covers on this 2012 are different than the ones I have on mine. For one, there is a whole in the covers for the wire harness, mine doesn't have that. Not to mention mine covers more of the engine than the picture below does
