Question Center Dash Speaker Cover - Gapping?

I bought a 2013 Overland new from a dealer a couple weeks ago. I eyeballed it pretty carefully before I left, but since I've had it home I've spotted a few interior fit/finish issues that are bugging me. Disclaimer: I'm a bit on the OCD side...

One of my issues is with the Center Dash Speaker Cover. Right in the very middle, it's not sitting flush with the dash. This one especially bugs me because it's in my line of sight while driving. If I push down on it firmly with a finger, I can get it to look correct (or at least what I think is correct). Pics are below.

Anybody seen this before? I assume it isn't normal, and (combined with the other interior things I'm spotting) it's pretty disappointing given all the ads I see for this vehicle emphasizing the incredible interior quality (close-ups of the leather stitching, etc).

I'm going to take it into a local dealership (though not the one I bought from - that one is quite far away unfortunately), but I'm looking for some info from the expert community to arm myself with in case I get any sort of "no sorry - can't fix that - it's just normal - not a warranty thing" reaction.

Any input is much appreciated!

Re: Center Dash Speaker Cover - Gapping?

Mine did that and I had the dealership replace it. The new one does it as well but not nearly as bad. I believe someone here took it off themselves and used a heat gun to soften the plastic and bend it down.

Re: Center Dash Speaker Cover - Gapping?

my guess would be that no matter what you do (i like the heat gun fix idea) is that sunlight will likely make it pop again
