Check Engine Light & Misfire After Tune-Up

I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo X with the Hemi. Back in December I brought my vehicle in for the "60,000 service." At the time I had around 70,000 miles on it. The car was running fine, but I typically follow the manufacturers recommended service intervals. Brought it to the dealer and had them do the service. Got the vehicle back, and it was running ok, but seemed a little off. I figured it was just me, so I just ignored it. Back in March I was accelerating up an incline (punched the gas) and the check engine light started flashing and then went solid. I got home after about an hour and when I restarted the vehicle, no check engine light. Drove it for a few days and all was fine. About three days later I was entering onto the highway and punched the gas and the check engine flashed and stayed solid. Got to work, shut off the vehicle and restarted and the check engine light was still lit. Made an appointment with the dealer and took it in for service. WHen they called me to tell me it was complete, the service advisor told me that the spark plugs were gapped improperly and that they came that way from the factory - I called BS, but they took care of it and issue was gone, or so I though.

Four days later, check engine light comes on again under the same pretense - punching the throttle. Bring it in for service and this time they swap the plugs around and the coils and road test it. Seems the issue is gone. I forget what the code was, but I believe it was a cylinder misfire. Get the vehicle back, seems to be running good, and a week later my water pump goes. Had that replaced, but no issues with the check engine light or misfires. Now 1 week after getting the water pump replaced I was driving and noticed the engine was stuttering/struggling when going between 50 and 70 in the 1500-2000 rpm range. All of a sudden my check engine light came back on again.

I am dropping it off tomorrow again for the third time with this issue. I'm convinced the issue has to do with the tune-up they performed as I did nto have any of these issues before then. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

Re: Check Engine Light & Misfire After Tune-Up

Sounds like a secondary ignition problem (plugs and/or coils and/or connections.

If the CEL is coming on then a trouble code has been set and stored. Any diagnosis starts with knowing what that code or codes are (probably P030x x=0 to 8).

Thanks. I have to see if I can find the code. Hopefully its on one of the invoices. Its very frustrating to say the least. For what they charge for a tune up at the dealer, one would think they could get that correct. The kicker for me is the first time I brought it back, they told me it was a problem with the spark plugs not being gapped properly, and then they had the nerve to try and charge me the diagnostic fee even though it was a problem they created.
