Thumbs up Re: CHR550 LOCKPICK issues no rear cam frozen menu

Thought I would post an update

First off STILL no callback from coastaletech.com complained via email today and received a response said they would get to me today...

After the reset earlier all seemed good

I even gained the ability to use the back steering wheel button to move off of the TV page... this didn't work before. (which I thought was just a caveat of the system... kinda scary that it can make that break...)

So rear camera was working (although there is now audio on that channel of a high pitched noise)
but then yesterday morning I was not able to adjust the volume on the SAT radio
I had to toggle the power button then it worked.... (this did happen in dec. as well one time)

yesterday the rear camera never turned off, it stayed on until the vehicle was turned off (all 15 minutes of the drive, couldn't use radio or nav)
then after power cycle of vehicle it came back and seemed to work

now this morning the radio thing happened again with the volume - no volume and couldn't be adjusted via the dial or via steering wheel, toggled power to radio and it worked...

I am hesitant to leave this in my vehicle it appears it is not wired properly and could potentially break something on my OEM 730n or worse..

I am anxious to discuss this with them today (if they actually call) because these are all serious issues with the devices and DEF. was not worth a few hundred dollars!

I will continue to update the thread for those interested but I would second guess my decision to put this in a $40,000 vehicle

-------------

so as im typing, they actually call!
I tell him everything thats going on

as for the back steering wheel button said it will get stuck eventually - just what happens no big issue because the radio doesnt understand the TV tab.

as for the radio volume freezing - he said thats a jeep thing and as of Nov. they released an update that fixes this.

Told him the rest of the issues he says hasn't heard any of those issues EXCEPT for when a pin is bent - said he almost guarantees it and gave me his direct line if it doesn't... so tonight i will investigate the pin situation and HOPEFULLY its a user error and these things were worth the investment! Amazing when customer service actually works the change in attitude you can give to your customers - so heres to hoping its a bent pin that can easily be 'unbent'

Re: CHR550 LOCKPICK issues no rear cam frozen menu

Didn't want to keep you waiting so took a peek at lunch time... and behold

I wanted to get this update from jeep he spoke about before I put it back in, but I called the local jeep dealership and said there are no software updates

so... off to search for this info now - i found a few related posts about other people having these issues but no one has a TSB or a version of the software I need

left him a message so will see where this ends up

Re: CHR550 LOCKPICK issues no rear cam frozen menu

Found the TSB

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0805312.pdf

Mine is back a few versions, the volume issue even happened today without the lockpick in so all is looking good. Have an appt at dealer to do the upgrade for tues. morning (sounds like lots of people bricking there device doing it themselves - I did find a torrent of the CD, but probably not worth it) so will put lockpick in after that and give it a few days to report back if any issues.

Thanks for the updates. Hopefully this will solve most ofnur issues. I may actually install mine this weekend and see how the next few days go

It might be a little challenge since you have the ipod cable.

A way he said to avoid having to 'reboot' it is to just remove the fuse from the fuse box instead of having to go in there - he said he knows of no cases where this happens unless there is a bent pin though

Radio fuse? I did that and it did not help at all. I was trying to avoid pulling the trim so that's what I tried first.

Maybe I didn't leave it out long enough, 2 mins tops. Hopefully the flash fixed it so I don't have to deal with that again.
