The big difference I saw from "AddedCare" to "MaxCare" was that AddedCare did not cover wheel bearings nor did it cover seals/gaskets other than for specifically named items whereas MaxCare covers wheel bearings and all seals/gaskets not specific to named parts and is less restrictive for just a few hundred dollars more. I bought the MaxCare for $2000 as I'll hit 100,000 miles in three years, it's a new design with a lot of electronics, and that $2000 with $100 deduct easily pays for two significant repair visits. It is a better rate of return than the stock market for the foreseeable future, IMHO.
I read the contract, they cover front struts but they don't mention the rear shocks. Are they considered wear items?

I would consider shocks a wear item and usually replace shocks at 50,000 miles anyway on my cars.

I would consider struts a wear item, too, so nice to see they're covered.

Glad to see you added the Lifetime and I completely agree about the rate of return, LOL. It's an easy decision for people like us whom keep vehicles for nearly 10 years at a time.

(OT...saw you riding the Vrod today and it sounded great!)

The basic 3yr/36k warranty from the manufacturer applies first however, things like first day rental begin immediately as does road side assistance etc. For example, I have my Jeep in for a few TSBs which I'll post about when I get it back but I received a Chrysler 200 in the meantime. I only have 35XX miles on the odometer.

For Maxcare, if it doesn't say it's not covered, it's covered. It's called an exclusionary contract (aka bumper-to-bumper) meaning that unless it's specifically called out that it isn't covered, then it's covered. As some have pointed out it's bumper-to-bumper however, it doesn't cover trim, brake pads, etc. Shocks and struts are covered as is the entire air-ride system if you have an Overland 4X4 as I do. I wouldn't have purchased it without the Lifetime Maxcare and for $1830 it was a no brainer. Most dealerships will also not charge you sales tax if you purchase it at the time of vehicle purchase so that's something to keep in mind although you can buy it online and avoid sales tax as well.

Does your dealer not normally have loaner vehicles? or are you usually not entitled to a loaner vehicle else its major work where you now can get one anytime you drop your Jeep off if a loaner is available? I don't really understand the first day rental perk, as my dealer provides loaners (crappy older Hyundais since they are a jeep/dodge/hyundai location) but a rental none the less.

Thanks HEMInator, that's what I figured.

J13ntv, dealers do not have to provide a loaner under the terms of the manufacturer's warranty. Some do, if they have one available but most do not. Most of them will provide courtesy transportation to wherever you need to go but usually will not pick you up upon completion of the repair. With the extended warranty, I believe you will get a loaner or rental if the repair will take longer than one day, and beyond that for four more days, if necessary.

My dealer does not and most American manufacturer dealers don't provide loaners/rentals as well. I'm not saying none do but none that I have ever been to have. With the extended warranty, however, I can get a rental anytime I need one for work being done on my vehicle (warranty work not a simple oil change). I dropped my Jeep off on a Saturday afternoon knowing Service is closed on Sundays but it's too difficult for me to get it in on a weekday. Had I not bought the extended warrranty, I would not have been given a rental. The contract provides for $35/day rentals.

Re: Chrysler Extended Warranty Prices

Thanks for the clarification, didn't know a loaner wasn't standard. As mentioned the dealer I bought my jeep from provides loaners if needed, as well as another very larger dealer in the area which advertises that loaners are included. Thanks again

That's great that your dealer does! I wish they all did but alas they do not. One of the great perks of the warranty to guarantee a rental.
