Incorrect... The accident happened in 2012 and the Jeep was a 1999 Grand Cherokee. Chrysler has issued a recall for 1993 to 1998 jeeps (installation of tow hitch to protect the gas tank) and sent a notice to owners of 1999 to 2004 Jeeps to have their cars inspected.

The article that you linked to is poorly written. This one is better:
