But... You have to go anyway for oil change, tire rotation, or mileage maintenance. Unless, of course, you do it yourself or have a local garage do it. Then again, I have a dealer within 5 to 10 minutes of me and I'm guessing that this may not be the case for some people.

I take mine in for oil changes. I buy my own oil, but pay them $20 for the filter and change every 6 months. I spend the 30 to 45 minutes catching up on reading or surfing the Internet. So, for me it isn't an extra trip or an inconvenience.

This time around, though, I will have the oil change, brake recall, and a fit issue along the gap between the front and back driver's side doors. The passenger side is flush, but the driver's side is off by about 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch.

Re: Chrysler Recalls 867,795 SUVs Worldwide for Brake System

Guess I've been lucky. I only had a couple of small problems when I first bought the vehicle last May and I took it in a couple of times for having the rock rails and the mud flaps put on and then the first oil change. Mine has been relatively trouble free, especially compared to some of the horror stories I've read here.

Lots of small problems. Picked up my June build in the middle of June. Since then it has been 10 visits to my dealer. I actually feel bad for those techs. I mean....they didnt design it or put it together. But they give it the ole college try to get the fix done. Frustrated is what I was at visit number 3. Sitting 9 and hitting 10 is outrageous.
Love the damn thing when its quiet and everything works.........but.
Those blissfull moment dont last too long. Dont get me wrong. Love the darn thing. Just want the one without issues. Statistically I know there are some out there. I am however certain that one of the best of what they are made of is not likely to be found in my driveway.
If only one of those elusive beasts of perfection were indeed in my driveway ............I could see myself extolling the virtues of the truok in an evangelical fashion. For now I vent. Even give caution to any who ask about getting one. Lol

Re: Chrysler Recalls 867,795 SUVs Worldwide for Brake System

I'm knocking on wood after posting my message above, but I've had no real complaints. Now, the first one I bought had a slew of problems with things not working, but the dealer took it back and gave me a new one within two days and the new one has been fine. Only thing was that they had to bring it over from Indiana (only one in the area that matched my specs) and it had 178 miles on the odometer when I got it. I can live with that.

NHTSA says that Chrysler will begin mailing recall notices to owners in May. At that time, owners will be able to take their vehicles to dealers, who will test the brake booster. If it can hold ample vacuum pressure, the dealer will install a water diverter shield on the booster, which should eliminate any potential problems. If, on the other hand, the booster fails the pressure test, it will be replaced.

Where is brake power booster located? Will it involve major disassembly?

I'll just bundle this up with some other regular service when it's convenient for me. Not a big deal.

I only go to the dealer for warranty work. I can do an oil change in 20 minutes instead of sitting around the dealer for half a day wondering what they are screwing up this time. Still trying to get through the new car bug fixes but they add to the list faster than I can get them off.

Re: Chrysler Recalls 867,795 SUVs Worldwide for Brake System

Just dropped my 2014 JGC Limited off at the dealership for unrelated items and my VIN came up with this recall. Logged into my jeep.com account and it also flags the recall notice. Clicking on the recall notice PDF brings up an error page so the site is down or I just happen to catch this on day one.

Guess I'll find out more on Thursday when I pick up my vehicle.

I've been sitting here waiting for the notice that was supposed to go out in May.

The link on the website goes to

http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/pdf/P14.pdf where the error just indicates there is no such document or the permissions on the document don't allow the web server to read it.

Website security prevents surfing the pdf directory.

Poking around, you can get to </title> <meta content="" name="keywords"/> <meta content="" name="description"/> <title>Dodge - Contact Us where you can enter your VIN by using the Recall link on the left.

That does yield the info that there is a Brake Booster recall as of May 15th 2014, but interestingly THAT link does not go to Jeep, it goes to Fiat....

http://www.fiatusa.com/universal/web...ce/pdf/P14.pdf
... and you can't surf that pdf directory either.

Not yet up on wk2jeeps
