Re: chrysler rep onboard?

Dear all,

I can now confirm. As promised by Mike, I have been contacted by Chrysler Top Care. The person who contacted me was very pelasent and spent a good 45 minutes on the phone to understand my problems. He was reltaive neutral and did not appear to be a pro-Chrysler company man. However, of the 3 issues I had, here were his answers:

1) Scratched internal trim panels noted on delivery: he will contact the dealership himself to push them to fix them

2) Child locked in car due to software glitch: Chrysler does not cover the costs of the smashed window. However, I should keep the recepits. If one day Chrysler finds an issue and recalls Jeeps, then I can claim the costs back

3) Stutter accelerating in 4th and 5th gear: the starcase is open and one day the engineers will come up with a flash, please wait.

All in all, it was a nice conversation and I now have a telephone number to escalate issues to. However, it did not resolve my problems, I pretty much heard what the dealership told me anyway.
Amen.

Daniele

This sounds like an interesting story. You couldn't take the emergency key out of the fob and unlock the door?

IIRC the key was locked inside the car and the spare key was 45 minutes away, it was hot and a small child was trapped in the car.

Oh yes...I forgot that bit....

No, the situation was: wife opens up the car by touching the front passengere door, opens rear passenger door, throws purse containing the keys on the rear bench, positions child into the baby seat, shuts the rear passenger door, and the car locks itself with the purse and keys inside.
Tried to replicate it, never happened again. But she is not the only one, so from time to time it seems to have a glitch.
Now have a magnetic box with the skeleton key underneath the vehicle. Took 25 mins to get the window smashed (it actually did not smash, but could puncture a hole through big enough for an arm) and seriously risked the child's life.
ESP, ABS, EPS, Airbags...billion of odllars in R&D, adn then something as stupid like this can cost a life? Come on, let's get some proper engineering into the vehicles...
Miss my bmw...

Cheers,

Daniele
