Climate control button push into the dash? Oh No!

Who's got this problem? She's all written up in the carsales.com.au review, Quoted below:

"Cabin quality and better materials are a focus of the reborn Chrysler Jeep Dodge. To help prove the point CJD Australia brought the company’s Head of Interior Design Klaus Busse Down Under for the diesel launch. The engaging ex-Benz exec was mortified when the very first Grand Cherokee we jumped into had two trim issues. Though minor, they soured first impressions. Yours truly checked other cars at the launch and found no repeat offenders.

Busse explained that the loose heating and ventilation control panel and a binding storage area lid we struck was were one-offs but also commented on the fact that the Grand Cherokee is still ‘wearing’ a modest number of carry-over components. In CJD’s defence, the mismatch of old and new is not glaring to the casual observer."

there's a video of it on You Tube. (see 2nd post) push on the temp buttons and the unit sinks into the dash.

Even the Interior design man from Jeep whilst in Australia for the diesel launch was shell shocked and thought it was a one off situation.

Last demo car I saw had it, and now the second demo diesel I've seen has it too.

Anyone know how they clip in? are they a easy fix, or a design flaw?

Re: Climate control button push into the dash? Oh No!

is the "adjusted" video that they have removed the stability problem and dash issue.
The 4 GC's I have been in have had no issue with the CC panel. I could not fault any except one that had a problem with the roof lining near the drivers head, where it meets the sunroof. It looked like it was damaged by a customer, as it was a floor model 70th.
Overall the interior is on par, but better looking than any Euros' I have been in.

Re: Climate control button push into the dash? Oh No!

Odd thing is that loose HVAC control panel was first reported last summer (2010) by some other testers. No wonder Klaus was mortified that some are still sneaking through production.
But it must be rare. My panel is solid as a rock.
