Clock Freezing

Anyone have any issues with the clock freezing? The last few days while driving to work, roughly 20 minutes in, the clock stops. Happened 3 times last week and this morning. My time is set to sync with GPS. Un-checking that option fixes it but when I re-check it, it reverts to the incorrect time. It seems to fix itself after work for the drive home and about 20 minutes in, stops. The nav location is accurate throughout the whole trip. I have a 14 GC Limited with 8.4AN updated to 14.25.05.

They're doing a ton of construction on the GS Parkway and temporary lanes have have been built for us to drive on while the existing roadway is being refinished. Do you think that could throw it off?

Not much help but, no issues on mine, also using GPS sync; same levels.

I know this is an old thread but I would like to know if you ever fixed your problem and how? I am having the same exact issue on my 2014 JGC Limited. The dealer cannot figure it out. The Clock will work correctly if not Synced to the GPS.

Hi sorry for answering so late......I have been talking to Jeep and U-Connect and I found out they are working on a new update that should have been ready October 2016 and now being pushed to Early next year due to some other recalls....The update is for the air card in the radio not communicating with the satellite. I guess I'll just continue to wait with a useless Radio....Luckily I can still listen to satellite radio....

Joec7864, I just started having these issues about a month ago after updating to 16.13.13. About 15 minutes after the clock freezes, I get a message that says "Vehicle Phone Requires Service. Please contact your dealer."

Are you getting this same message?

I'm going insane over this issue. I mean what's worse than a $50,000 broke clock??

Bummer...I have a 2014 Summit, and the warranty is no longer active. This started happening the same day the dealer upgraded the Uconnect software to 16.13.13. I had the Jeep at the dealership for some safety recalls, and they said I needed the R40 update. It's been doing this every day since then (my drive to work is about 45 minutes, and it happens anywhere between 20-40 minutes into the drive).

I wonder if downgrading back to the previous software version would fix it?? Any idea where I can find the old software file?

Yes, that is what happens....20-40 minutes into the drive....the message pops up....I hate it but I don't think there is anything we can do....I am not sure if reversing to the older software would work. I will just have to wait and see what happens with the new software when it comes out. U-Connect promised to send me an e-mail when the update is available....

I hate to say this, but if it's a bad aircard, the only fix is a radio replacement. Hope a software update can help, for your sake. This radio is one of the main reasons I bought a MaxCare service contract.

Wife's 2014 Eco-D had the radio replaced in late 15' or early 16', and now the "vehicle phone requires service" and stopped clock is happening again.

Hopefully the "NEW" new radio they will presumably replace it with works moving forward. At 32.5k so should have time to get it replaced without using Maxcare.

It worked fine for a year or so; but then out of the blue here we go again......

Also having this exact issue with my '14 GC Limited. First occurred after dealer serviced it last year for the recall notice to stop rolling in neutral. Was hoping 16.13.13 would fix it, but upgraded last weekend and no dice.

I also assumed it was a software issue since it occurred after dealer service and software update. My guess is this is a pretty widespread issue, but since it doesn't seem to affect the performance of the radio people aren't reporting it.

FWIW, the first time I ran the 16.13.13 update it froze at module 10 (IIRC) which I think was the AirCard module. It rebooted itself and ran the update again and installed correctly the 2nd time.

I think another reason it's not reported is because it usually takes 30 minutes or more for the clock to freeze. If you never commute more than 30 minutes at a time, you would never know the issue exists.

I've already tried reinstalling the update myself & pulling the battery myself.

Have you ever subscribed to Uconnect Access?

I have the same problem on my 2014 GC limited.Clock freezes after about 20 minutes on the road and then I get phone not working contact dealer and my nav map has me all over the place.dealer says they can't do anything it's a uconnect problem and they will send out an update to fix it .Called uconnect and they can't say when it will happen but it will be an over the air download.Sounds like i'm getting the run around.

Hi bobgealy,

Sorry to hear about your concerns! I can confirm that the clock losing time issue you are experiencing should be addressed by the Over the Air update that is being released regionally at this time. The navigation software in your vehicle is provided by an external company called HERE North America who handles navigation software updates. You can visit their website for more information and sign up to be notified when an update is released: Chrysler Group | Home | HERE.

Just to update this thread. The over-the-air update finally arrived for me about 2 weeks ago and it has fixed the issue of the clock freezing.

I still get the "vehicle phone requires service" error, but I just ignore that. I have had a few times where I start the car and the UConnet just doesn't start up - then starts up about 2-3 minutes into my drive. Annoying, but rare.

I wanted to say also that I got the update a couple of weeks ago and the update fixed the clock issue and the navigation system issue but like Kauffee said the message that the phone requires service is still popping up. It is just annoying because I do not use the car's phone. I use my iphone with Bluetooth. This proves the software updates from Jeep messed up the radio in the first place. Took almost two years to partially getting it fixed. Not sure if the air card will ever be able to get fixed with a software update but oh well...
