Clunking in front passenger wheel

When hitting a bump my front passenger wheel does a little clunk, clunk......clunk, clunk, clunk. Almost like metal clunking but not quite. Took it in and mechanic said everything looks good. He's wrong obviously. Shock/strut mount, tie rod, bad bushings, ball joint? ANY IDEAS? Need some help. Annoying as hell.

Did he drive it?

I would take a look myself at other areas. Sometimes noises are not coming from where you think. Check under the dash, even in the glove box. And the one that fooled me on two different Jeeps, the eye glass compartment. Three people drove my Liberty and all had a different, but wrong, diagnoses. Then one day the sun came out and the problem was solved.

Sounds crazy, which I am, but you never know.

Re: Clunking in front passenger wheel

The truck is completely silent and rides fine. No noticeable change in performance. With the windows up the cabin is completely silent. When I roll down the passenger window I her the "clunk" or "clank" when going over a big crack or sharp bump in the road. Driving me nuts!!!!!!! Sway bar end links could be the culprit. Any idea on how to trouble shoot that? I've read that brake pad retainer clips could cause this? Can't believe that it would be that noticing tho.

To me it sounds like your problem is in the right door or window regulator.

Re: Clunking in front passenger wheel

It is definitely something in the wheel. Suspension component of some sort. Can hear it when it when the sound bounces off a building or something else.

Sway bar end links. My 2014 was making the same sounds, took to drake, replaced the end links, bam no more noises.

Re: Clunking in front passenger wheel

I think I may have found the cause. After some investigation I found that I am missing a brake pad retainer clip in the front passenger caliper causing the pad to rattle around in the caliper. Thanks for all of everyone's input. Much appreciated.

Re: Clunking in front passenger wheel

With the window down the window itself or the regulator like someone else said could be something to look at. Could just be rattling around inside the door.
