Re: Cold weather starting noise

Thanks very much for the video. Mine (GC 2013 3.6L) has the exact same problem, though the noise may only last half as long....

What is not clear is why I don't get this noise when I plug it before starting it. I can't imagine the block heater will warm up the belt too ?

This morning at -24C it was silent (block heater connected for about 3-4 hours before I started the car with the remote). Tonight, -19C in the parking lot, big noise (using the remote too).

Bizarre.

Re: Cold weather starting noise

I referenced the TSB from above to the dealer last week, and had pully changed yesterday. This morning it was -21C and a silent start .
The fix was done before warranty runs out, which was nice too.

Thanks for the information provided on this site

Re: Cold weather starting noise

Mine did that last winter on very cold mornings, but this winter I have not heard it once. Very strange.

Re: Cold weather starting noise

bump*

I printed out today the TSB. Thanks for the TSB! My dealer never called to tell me that there is a solution now. What should I'm expecting from my dealer than not to inform the customers?

I would very much bet that's the serpentine belt, or the tensioner.

Look a the lights immediately after the start takes place - all of a sudden they jump in brightness. I'd bet that's because the belt is not under full tension.

Re: Cold weather starting noise

Mine has did the same since day one of ownership. Only happens on initial startup for the day... lasts about 2 to 3 seconds... and with outdoor temps around freezing or below.
