CommandView Sunroof Noisy?

We picked up our new GC Overland last week and I'm pretty enchanted with the whole thing. I know it's impossible to objectively or fully rate a vehicle after a couple hundred miles, but it really meets all my expectations--it's comfortable, well built, luxurious and performs well.

There's one thing I noted, though--the CommandView sunroof seems a bit noisy. No whistling or wind leaks, but a noticeable wind roar even in the 35-45 mph range ("roar" is actually a bit of an overstatement, but you get this idea, hopefully). It might be that it's simply more noticeable because the GC is relatively quiet otherwise, but I am wondering if this is a characteristic of this large expanse of glass. Has anyone else noticed this?

It's not the end of the world. I'll eventually get it back to the dealer and ask them to check it out and possibly try adjusting it. Of course, closing the shade reduces the noise considerably, but I like having all that light streaming in overhead!

I haven't noticed any noise at all. Then again I usually have the radio on so that could be drowning out any noise. I'll make a point of testing on the way home today.

I'll look forward to seeing what you report. I would note this: it seemed more noticeable when the temperatures were hovering in the low teens. It could be that the new moldings need a bit of time to get seated.

Re: CommandView Sunroof Noisy?

I am assuming that since you are in Chicago area you are refering to noise when the roof is closed. If that is the case, then there should be no noise.

That's right--sunroof closed, sunshade open.

Re: CommandView Sunroof Noisy?

Mike, I tested on the way home. Shade open, radio off and there was absolutely no noise whatsoever. Temperature in the St Louis area was a balmy 45 degrees.

Re: CommandView Sunroof Noisy?

No noise when mine is closed, regardless of shade position.

Thanks, all. I'll drop by my dealer service department and have them check it out.

Re: CommandView Sunroof Noisy?

A follow-up:

I took it to the dealer this morning and they verified the noise (pretty much right above the driver's head). They performed a "dual plane glass adjustment," which cured that air leak, but caused it to shift to the right rear portion of the glass. After a second dual plane adjustment, all the wind leaks were cured.

Blissful quiet.

Re: CommandView Sunroof Noisy?

Sorry to hijack the thread.. but does anyone hear an annoying rattle from the dual sunroof. Mine seems to be coming from the very center where it splits in two.

Re: CommandView Sunroof Noisy?

This has been covered in several other posts. On the pano roof, the rattle issue is primarly loose/separated accordian side covers, and loose tubes on the shade cords that open/close the shades. The fix of the loose tubes requires removal of the headliner.

I haven't seen anyone say it's been the accordion side rubber covers??? But have seen a person state the cable ties were loose. That person however had the rattle even when closing their doors and such.
