Happens to my 2014 summit once in awhile (got it in march) seems to happen most often when headlight washers are used (every 5 times of using windshield washer I think).. It does go away and figured I'll save that fight for when headlights start to stain/yellow and/or I get near to 36k.. If I haven't traded it in by then anyway..

Re: Condensation in headlights

happening to me -- but only in certain weather conditions. I did notice this after a day with the truck (only have had it a week)... Steam was actually coming out of the grill. It was drizzling very very lightly -- damp. Steam was coming out of the front grill and - into the lenses also... Wondering if there is something else going on - fogging the lamps...

Post Re: Condensation in headlights

I had condensation including small streams of water inside the headlights. It remained for about two days while the Jeep was outside during rainy, humid weather (vacation). Disappeared on drive home and has not reoccurred within the week of being in garage and dry weather.

Had the Jeep checked at dealer. They didn't report knowing of any problem, but told me "bring it back when it's raining." :-/

I have learned so much from this forum. I vote that it should be required reading by all managers, techs, etc!

..I think they have them vented for heat dissipation.. I do believe this will be an issue over time. If its vented - its going to allow in all types of debris - additionally -- the on again/off again condensation is bound to mark up the lens. I fear we will have a significant problem later on. Encourage all to document the record with teh dealer so in the future - should the lenses need to be changed/addressed - it's included in the service record. Right now - a new Jeep - as all of ours are with this style of lens - will bounce back from condensation readily... Over time - different story...

Re: Condensation in headlights

I know for other cars (VW touareg) stating in the manual, that slight fogging is normal and usually vanishes when the lamps get warm.
It basically caused by condensation of water due to temperature drops (lower steam saturation of the air inside the lamp), therefore the lamps are vented.
As long as no water is going to accumulate within the lamp no reason to worry
Same thing with a lot of other cars with clear glas bodies (had also been there in the old halogen lamps, but you won´t notice since the lens molded glas, However, sealed beam doesnt do!)

Happy day

Achim

Seems reasonable - as they need to be vented. I guess the test of time will show us if any issues need resolution...

Re: Condensation in headlights

I have had my Summit for three days. The day I got it it was raining really hard. Last night was the first time I used the head lights. My lights look just like the pictures you took of the condensation.

I checked the lights out this morning and it was gone.

I had a 2011 Summit and that never happened. So, I am a little concerned about it as well.

This is a Chrysler TSB about this. I've been told that they will only replace the lights if the water pools or doesn't go away within a relatively short period of time with the lights running, or if you start to notice discoloration of the housing.

We've had a ton of rain here in Minnesota lately, and I haven't seen this issue since the night after I brought my Jeep home (almost 2 months ago).

I still get condensation every now and then. It goes away after it's parked a few minutes. I agree it shouldn't be like that, however it has not caused any major issues.
