Re: Creaking noise from driver seat where the lumbar support is...

I have not heard creaking noises yet but the lumbar feels a bit loose when going around corners. I first noticed it on the driver's side but I now notice it on the passenger side as well. Will keep an eye on it and bring it up if it gets worse or annoying.

After being away from US make vehicles for over 15 years, I'm still a bit disappointed...quality is better but it still has a way to go.

Would rotor rust cause a bit of a squeal on the first application of the brakes? Just wondering because I do hear that when the Jeep is being pulled out of the garage first thing in the morning.

Always been my understanding that a coating of rust on rotors isn't a big deal, that it is usually removed when braking first few times and then you are OK.

Take it down the road and when its safe stand on the brakes hard a few times. This has the effect of taking the shine of the brake pads and should help with the brake squeal. Good luck.

Unhappy Re: Creaking noise from driver seat where the lumbar support is...

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laradeo with 81,000 miles, power seats, leather. I bought it new and have been the only owner.

About a week ago as I turned left, I noticed this creaking sound from the back of the drivers seat. I eventually gave a peek under it and couldn't see anything except some rust, which should be normal. I looked at this forum and read the suggestions but decided anyway to take it to the dealership.

They looked at it, came back with a bill for 120 dollars and said that the seat adjuster was broken and it would cost me around $892 dollar and it had to be ordered from the manufacturer. I had a cow and said I couldn't afford that. The service rep said he would recommend that I just tolerate the noise if it were him. I asked him if it were safe to drive, he said in the 8 years he was at that dealership only 2 ever had the seat back collapse.

I went home and found one of those how do you like the service you got and I filled it out saying in so many words, charging me $120 just to tell me I needed a $800 part was (#$()#(*$% stupid. Got a call the next day from the dealership and they refunded me the $120. That seemed odd and I am guessing they probably figured that they broke the part examining it and felt guilty because who ever heard of a dealership refunding money rather than say nothing.

So what do you folks think about the "broken seat adjuster". It has been just my hind end on the seat, I don't adjust the seat at all, except when I have to put it back after a service check up at the dealership, they are much bigger than me. I think it is crap, the 800 is probably for a new seat.

I am hearing the sound from the rear of the seat, when I make a left turn or when I get out of the Jeep. There has to be a solution less than 800.
