Re: creeking from brakes

im pretty sure every vehicle ive owned has creaked to one degree or another. or at least it was possible to make them creak by lightly removing brake pressure while in gear

Re: creeking from brakes

I had a problem with my 2012 Overland brakes squealing whenever I came to a stop slowly. This started happening before the vehicle was even 1 year old. I fought with the dealership & had to eventually get Jeep/Chrysler involved.

The dealership eventually determined that my brake pads & rotors were glazed, causing the squealing noise. They replaced the front pads & rotors under warranty.

Re: creeking from brakes

Do any of you do a lot of stop n go driving in traffic? Reason I ask is that my BMW used to squeal like that. The tech told me that when it happens to do the "bed in" process like I had new brakes; apply the brakes aggressively from about 40mph. Don't come to a complete stop, only slow to about 5mph and then accelerate again. Give them about 1 minute at speed to cool and then repeat the process about 6 times.
Brake squeal can actually be vibration. Like a bow being improperly drug against a violin string. Just food for thought. Hope it gets resolved one way or another!

I was given the same suggestion about my WK2 by my dealership.

I followed their suggestion several times over several months and 1,000+ miles. It did not fix the problem one little bit.

Replacing the front pads & rotors is what resolved my problem.

Re: creeking from brakes

Thanks guys. Been having the same problem for the past 2 weeks. Took my car into service this Monday, but the service writer said he did not have any loaners to give me. Ill for sure print that out and give it to the service writer.

Thanks once again!
