Re: Crooked steering wheel 2015 Summit

I had the same problem. 3 Alignments later finally fixed. And Jeep says that there is no problem. Look at all the people with the same problem. A year later and they still can't correct the alignments from the factory. WOW.

Re: Crooked steering wheel 2015 Summit

Boy, my vehicle is 2 years old next month, (steering wheel was off to the right a bit from day 1) and they just now come out with a TSB. Not to slow. Chrysler is soooo slow to respond to issues on their vehicles. Probably because they have so many of them across all models.

I wound up getting reimbursed for the proper alignment to be done at an independent shop since the dealer tried 3 times and didn't know what they were doing and never did correct it. Pretty sad really.

I'm surprised that so many vehicles have the alignment issue. I was watching the factory video someone posted and they showed the lasers that are used during manufacturing to align the wheels.

Hopefully they can correct the issue at the factory.

After two years of making them like that it might be nice

Those wheel alignment lasers are out of whack just like the liftgate alignment lasers are out of whack. They probably just need maintenance done on them but they are to busy shoving these things out the door at a rate of 1 per minute to bother with maintenance.

Re: Crooked steering wheel 2015 Summit

Thanks, Milous!

What a timing! My appointment to have this issue fixed is to morrow at 1 PM. Now I have something to show to them (and more important, a detailed description on how to fix it. Although a service department should know that even without a TSB, having one certainly doesn't hurt!).

Re: Crooked steering wheel 2015 Summit

UPDATE:

Yesterday, I had this issue addressed at the dealership that's closest to me (not where I bought it from) and the technician who worked on it was obviously ASSUMING that he could 'guess' the level of adjustment necessary - so after two hours and a little tweaking here and there, I received my 'fixed' vehicle.

It took me about a minute of driving to figure ot that it WASN'T 'fixed' - the steering was still crooked at the same angle - but this time, to the left.

I made a u-turn and drove it back on the lot. Of course it was already too late to have it fixed that day so I had to come back again this morning.

Fortunately, my service-experience today was much better (well, the 'service' itself wasn't bad initially but I simply didn't get what I wanted - if that makes sense..). I had a chat with a friendly service-adviser who stated that he owns a GC and had the same issue and that I should put some pressure on the other guys to have it fixed the right way according to specs.

Fortunately, I didn't have to because after a short test-drive, they performed the laser-alignment (I was happy to see they had the equipment) and I was ready and out in a reasonable amount of time.

Again, it only took me less than a minute to determine that this time, it was aligned professionally and not by 'guesstimating'...

Re: Crooked steering wheel 2015 Summit

There is really no excuse for this off center steering wheel issue, something that Jeep should be catching right off the assembly line and correcting, very poor build quality control or inspections

Yeah, I mean after so many years (and probably countless dealer-adjustments), you would assume that Jeep should figure out that taking care of this issue at the factory shouldn't cost them more than paying the dealers for it.
