Re: Cruise control problem...

No adaptive cruise, mine is a Laredo X.

Its also not an issue of the way the switch is designed, the system cut out and disengaged and doesn't turn itself back on. I've had lots of cars that require the system to be turned on every time to be able to set the speed.

Re: Cruise control problem...

Damn, the cruise control on my 2012 began failing to turn on a week ago. The first time it happened was after the Quadra-Lift button got stuck in the depressed position and the "Service Air Suspension" light came on for about two seconds. It might have been just a coincidence; I know there's a difference between correlation and causation. In any case, I'm not liking that the Chrysler switchgear is starting to fail.

Re: Cruise control problem...

Jeep is my first Chrysler-FIAT so am used to just setting the speed. System is on unless I turn it off.

Re: Cruise control problem...

Every car I've ever owned requires you to turn the cruise on every time you restart the vehicle...

My Dad had a Cadillac in the 90s that had a switch that stayed on if I remember correctly.

GM as late as 2008 has a switch on the turn signal stalk as well ad the set button for the cruise can't say for any newer because I have not driven (nor will I drive) a Government Motors vehicle.

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

Re: Cruise control problem...

I'm having the same intermittent problems with the cruise control in my 2011 Grand Cherokee (now with 55,000 miles). I've had some success holding the resume(+) and set(-) buttons down simultaneously for a few seconds and then it works. That hack seems to be taking more and more time and attempts to work now however. How expensive is the switch if one is paying cash? Too bad it's not a safety issue subject to a recall.

Re: Cruise control problem...

My 2011 JGC (68k mi.) with non-adaptive cruise control developed this problem intermittently yesterday. Tonight, I opened up the steering wheel to see what the switch looked like. Not very hard, and you can figure it out (six torx screws, two phillips screws, two bolts). Just be sure to disconnect and isolate negative battery terminal and wait two minutes for capacitor to discharge before you begin working to avoid accidental airbag deployment! All of the cruise switches in the right side of the steering wheel are one sealed plug-on module. I find Mopar replacement available on the web for $32.50, off-brand for $25.78. Google for them.

Re: Cruise control problem...

This may not help but my 98 Dakota began having electrical issues including the cruise control. Headlamps would just go out at night, taillights but no brake lights, turn signals would flash really fast as if a bulb was out but all bulbs were good. Cruise control I had to hit the "on" button several times to turn the cruise on, then hit the "set button" several times before speed control was set. Turned out to be the turn signal switch. All those wires passed through the turn signal switch. The truck is doing the same thing now (several years and miles later) so I'm getting ready to install a new turn signal switch. I know cars have changed a lot since then, but you never know...
Speaking of which, I still have that Dakota. I can't kill it. But the "electronic" package consisted of an AM/FM/cassette deck. Can you image going from that to my new to me 2011 Grand Cherokee? I thought I'd stepped into the Starship Enterprise. I'm scared to death the Jeep is going to come into my bathroom at night and try to wipe my ass for me. Sheeesh. How did we get a long with out these modern conveniences?
