Ive had to replace the battery in my key already at less than a year old.

A friend of mine had the same with his Prado's remote key. It was 6 months old.

Try cleaning the battery and contacts before replacing the battery. Seems there must be a bit of corrosion building up. I did this 5 weeks ago and my FOB has been perfect ever since. It is still the original battery and my GC is 15 months old.

Dealer just informed me that I had a faulty Wireless Ignition Node [WIN] which is the component that recognizes the key fob

I hope that this is covered by warranty.
