Im sure im wasting my time even bringing it in
My dealer said the same exact thing to me. They said the Cherokee 9-speed has been a nightmare and has tons of problems, but the Grand Cherokee 8-speed hasn't had any issues that they were aware of. Funny, right? Then they tried to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my transmission. Now they are admitting that my transmission isn't working right, but can't fix it.
Anyway, if you do decide to bring it in, don't let them waste your time. Tell them you want them to do the adaptive relearn procedure and then test to see if the problem is still there. If it is, tell them you want the valve body replaced. If that doesn't do the trick, they'll end up replacing your transmission. The Service Manager told me that Chrysler does not allow them to "open" the transmission to repair it, other than pulling off the pan to replace the valve body. That's as far as they'll allow the dealerships to go with the new 8-speed automatic.
