Daytime running lights

Has anyone noticed if their daytime running lights stay on when the blinker is on? Today, I noticed if I put my blinker on to take a left, the left daytime running light went off. Same thing with the right. It came back on when the blinker went off. Is this normal?

This is good to know, and a nice bit of upscale foresight by the designers.

I have a lamp-related question that occurred to me during one of my road trips this past week:

When the vehicle brakes automatically when in ACC mode, do the rear brake lights go on? The answer must be yes but I have not seen it with my own eyes yet.

I believe that it's a DOT thing. Turnsignal sits almost atop the running light, therefore the running light would possibly obscure the blinking signal. Safety issue if the DRL doesn't turn off to make the signal more visible.

I think the DOT has a standard for the seperation distance. If the lamps are closer than this standard then the DRL must turn off when the signal is flashing.

I haven't researched the subject but I do recall reading this in a post here a few months back.
