Dealer Fixes @ 9600 Miles-Opinions?

Left @ dealer for regular service and asked about these items: Access door under radio is crooked, hand on rear hatch has the "bow", recall notice even though I don't have the letter yet, and latest "flash" for the 8-speed trans. They called tonite and said the access door is "better" than the ones in inventory so they don't want to touch it. They said the same thing about the "bowed" handle on the rear hatch! I had TSB 21-007-13 done in August for the transmission and they say there are not any newer updates? I thought the latest one came out in September? Does it matter what your build date is? Eco mode is still not very tolerable. Service manager says when they "hook up" on their computer they get the latest stuff that should be done. I can live with the access door but the hatch handle & especially the tranny should be fixed I think?! He also said there was a radio update they did and a 4-wheel drive update they did too. I complained about a "moan/groan" noise in right turns under acceleration, can do it in a parking lot or on a sweeping exit ramp, he tells me it is the left front wheel trying to keep up with the right side & maybe the 4-wheel drive update will cure that. Does not have an answer for why the right side doesn't make the noise in a left turn! Geez, love the car but too many issues to get straightened out. Is he right about the transmission flash? Thanks, Dave

You can keep track of TSBs and Recalls at the link below. If you think one applies to your vehicle, read it thoroughly.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Grand Cherokee Service Bulletins and Recalls

The answer to your noise when turning problem doesn't make sense to me, unless you were in 4 low ... which I doubt.

Re: Dealer Fixes @ 9600 Miles-Opinions?

Thanks Bill! I read the TSB's and my question is there are 3 dates listed for the trans flash and also a b after the number, so if mine was done August 21st only, it does not have the latest flash with modified software? Am I correct in this thinking? When I go pick up the car tomorrow I want to be able to ask/discuss this with them and sort of know what I am talking about. Dave

Re: Dealer Fixes @ 9600 Miles-Opinions?

This latest "b" edition of the tsb says to check to see if you have the latest version. It doesn't say that this is a new version. Sometimes a revision to a tsb only changes the parameters for which vehicles need to have it done.

If I were you I would print it out and tell them yours was done in August and you saw this revised one. My understanding is that when they hook up the scan tool {wiTech} it will automatically alert them to what updates are needed.

Let me know what they say.

Re: Dealer Fixes @ 9600 Miles-Update!

Yes Bill, you were correct! When they hook up to computer it knows & the great news is this: Apparently my flash from August service was the latest for the TCM but they did flash the DTCM? Anyway, in ECO mode it BEHAVES like a transmission should! The upshifting is fantastic, holds each gear longer so it is not falling on it's face, and the downshifting seems way smoother! just hoping it stays this way 'cause it is like velvet now! They did the recall notice for evic/ground wire etc., mine only ever acted up once @5600 miles. I handed the service manager your page on the STAR case for the hatch handle & he professed to know nothing about it, so I said get back to me but just because others on your lot are bowed does not make it ok, i want it fixed and he agreed. They did a radio re-programming & I don't know what that was for, oil filter & rotation, out the door for $44.00 I still have to see about my moan/groan in right hand turn under acceleration. As i said before they think it is wheel/tire on dry road trying to keep up with the other side? The service manager said the "flash" could possibly help? They aren't sure. I have seen no one else on this great Forum mention this issue. It is weird, only hear it doing right hand turns/exits when giving it power. Sure loving the tranny now! Dave
