Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

My fender flares on my 2014 summit are starting to lift off at the ends. I went to my dealer and they said they won't cover it under warranty due to that's how they come and it's a design flaw. Screw them, didn't look that way when when I bought it 6 months ago. I'm getting ready to raise major hell. Any suggestions?

Re: Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

What a load of BS from your dealer. Geesh... isn't that precisely what a new car warranty is supposed to cover?

I'd go have a talk with the manager of the dealership.

Any pics? Just curious to see how bad it is.

I think the dealer should take care of it.

Re: Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

Do the new unsold Summits on the dealer lot have the same flaw as yours?

I say take pics, contact the service/dealership managers and if they still won't budge, call Chrysler Customer care and report this issue and ask them for help getting this resolved.

Spoke to jeep customer service. They called the dealer with me on hold. They did not sound to happy. They spoke to the GM and said he will call them back shortly with an answer of what went down. Jeep said they will call me back today and should be resolved. Will keep posted. So far very impressed with jeep corporate.

I had a trailblazer where the side molding starting coming off, dealer saw it and fixed it under warranty, said it happens from time to time and it was no big deal. Hopefully Jeep and the dealer make your vehicle right.

Re: Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

Design flaws definitely should be covered by warranty. What's a warranty for otherwise? "Uh, yes, Mr. Smith, your fuel pump failed during the warranty period... but it's not covered, because it wasn't designed well to begin with."

Re: Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

I know this is an older thread but with my 2014 summit passing the 2 year mark these fender flares are definitely coming up in several places, anywhere from an inch to 3 inches in places. now I could take it to the dealer and let them make a huge mess of this with the usual precision they operate but I decided the headache would be less to try myself. I used the two items below to precision inject some molding adhesive. worked well all good for now but that two sided tape they are using isn't just lifting it is disintegrating and separating in the center, not a good choice for the job. I can see it was designed to probably make it just past the 3/36 before the flares start falling off completely. will see what it looks like prior to the 3 year mark, if its really a mess by that point then dealer will be doing it the next time.

3M emblem adhesive - just use a little and keep away from unintended painted surfaces

these are great for precision injecting very small amounts of adhesive.

Re: Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

I had all 4 re taped at the dealer body shop at about 30K miles under warranty. Some were sticking up 3/8 of an inch from the fender outline. So far so good at 42K....
But if you are outside warranty, it will prob be up to the generosity of the dealer. If they have see a lot of repairs and claims and recognize it as an ongoing problem, you may be in luck... If they want to be hard noses about it then you may have to try to fix yourself or have any competent body shop reset them.....

Re: Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

I had mine coming off on one of the front fenders. Dealers body shop shot some adhesive behind it and pressed it in. After about a year it seems to be holding. No charge.

Re: Dealer Help!!! Fender flares

I'm still under warranty.

Wasn't there a more permanent fix to this? Something like all new re-designed clips?
