Wow - did you at least get some venison out of the deal? Glad you are ok and good luck on the resolution.

Re: Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

Pricing out parts I know are compromised or broken to make sure insurance company damage estimate is in the ball park. The parts below are the obvious ones, but sure I missed a lot of trim and support parts. I want a frame measuring system and a printout of the results - not sure yet if the engine or water pump were impacted adversely.

My parts manager I deal with a lot is checking on these prices for me below:

Rain Sensing Windshield OEM

Front Hood

Radiator

LM2S Bi-Xenon Headlights (one gone, one broken)

One Fog lamp LNJS

Front Bumper

Left Front Quarter Panel

Left front wheel well liner

Left Front Quarter Panel Trim piece

Hood lifter mechanism

Front Hood latching mechanism

Engine Cover (V6)

That sucks but thank God it wasn't a Moose! You would have completely flipped your jeep and rolled it for miles. If you don't believe me, look up Jeep failed moose test.
It's awful!

Yeah I've seen the moose test more than I care to admit - not a fair test.

Re: Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

I'm not sure how it works in the states, but downunder the insurance co's will go the cheapest route down to the dollar.

A collegues car Merc(6 months old) was smashed by a drunk driver whilst parked. And while damages came out to about A$56k on the A$72k car, the repair option was chosen by the insurance company. Even that excluded the 4 months of car hire which was bared by the insurance company. Not to mentioned the forever ongoing problems the car had which was looked into by the Merc rep to get the christmas light dash panel sorted out and ABS issues etc.

If you had known it wasnt in your favour, it probably would have been better to run it out a little more before making a claim eh?

Glad you are ok.

He can file a diminished value claim on the vehicle with his insurance company. He will more than likely have to ask they usually fail to mention it. Back in 2004 I was hit and my 2000 honda civic lx got fixed. My dad received a diminished value check from that woman's USAA insurance. I think it was right under a 1k.

Re: Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

Glad to hear you're ok. Man - 1, Deer - 0. Jeeps are cheaper than medical bills. Jeeps are cheaper than lifetime disability.

Try and make sure (if possible) that you document the "cherry" condition of your Jeep if they decide to total it. Sometimes the adjusters just see the paperwork, but not the vehicle and just go with running averages on value.

I hit a dog back when I had an SRT and it ripped apart the bumper. Freaked me out! I could not imagine this! Glad you're ok. There's a possibility it could be totaled. A bent frame doesn't mean anything sometime, I've seen then get adjusted and returned to the owner. When I just got my VW CC I was headed to NM from Phoenix for Christmas, stopped to get gas and a women in a MINI hit my passenger rear quarter. Totaled my car but no airbags or anything.

Re: Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

My insurer notified me a couple days ago that indeed my Jeep was totaled.
I am awaiting a claims settlement offer sometime early next week hopefully.

They use a company called Autosource to determine the ACV, or the market value of the vehicle. I've been doing research on it the past couple days and have my own analysis ready for rebuttal if needed. I did post a separate thread on Autosource and got some good feedback from some of our members.

I was asked by the claims adjuster to provide receipts for all the aftermarket parts (skid plates, tow hooks, rock rails, etc.). I am mailing the title to the insurance company this afternoon.

Dang man. Like I said, it's good you came out of this unharmed. Probably the best way to total a vehicle if you had the choice. Do you have any idea of what you want to get next? '14 GC??
